BAHAMA FISH MARKET: Local Sea food favorite !!! Cheap no Frills

by Homanded Updated Aug 5, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Ok...so if you're looking for pretty, formal, $50.00/lobster, white glove servers with white wine this is not your place.
If however, you're looking for deliciously fresh seafood (caught by the owners or close contacts and delivered daily), gum chewing non english speaking waitresses who serve fish dip out of styrofoam cups - YOU'VE FOUND THEM! And so have the locals.
A long time favorite of just about all seafood dishes available in Florida and specializing in Spanish preparations.
The patrons are mostly locals and seating is informal either at crowded tables or bar but the food is delicious!

Favorite Dish: For appetizers try the Bacalao Fritters (Cod Fish Fritters) or Conk Fritters - a Key West delicacy.
Try the Whole snapper or the Grouper chunks.
Smoked fish dip served with crackers is also a must.
Oysters are fresh, served with tabasco and lemon.
Paellas, made to order are brimming with chunks of fresh lobster, crab, snapper, mussles chicken and vegetables

All sea food is served A'la Carte with a variety of beans, rice dishes, vegetables or salads.

Although not cheap, has some of the best seafood in South Miami.
Beautifully decorated in nautical theme, complete with large aquariums separating the various seating areas.
Wonderful service although it can get crowded.
Great strong drinks at their bar...try the Side Car or their Mojitos!
Their food is all A-One and very very fresh.

Voted one of Miami's 10 Best on the Food reviewers Guide

Favorite Dish: Anything, specializing in Seafood but wonderfully tender cuts of meat.
Oysters Rockerfeller are wonderful, as are their crab stuffed mushroom caps and escargots.
Catch of the Day is usually simply prepared, grilled or broiled.

Tuesday nights are 2 for 1 Lobster nights featuring Maine Lobsters!

Try their Lobster Bisque or Seafood chowder. - The Best!

Joe's Stone Crab: Finest Florida Stone Crabs

    stone-crab-joe-miami

World Famous for its Stone Crabs and Key Lime Pie, this is indeed an amazing restaurant, first established (1913) eating house on Miami Beach ... A local institution for over 90 years, serving the finest-in-Florida Stone Crabs, and other seafood. Open from October to mid May.

Important enough for the New York Times >>>
The centerpiece of the à la carte menu is, of course, stone crab, with a piquant mustard sauce. Try the popular creamed garlic spinach, french-fried onions, fried green tomatoes, and hash browns. Take the famous key lime pie of apple pie with crumb-pecan topping.

Favorite Dish: The home folks from Dade County, Florida, tell you that the "stone crab" is the greatest of native delicacies, once so numerous you could dip your foot in Biscayne Bay, coming up with a "stone crab" on every toe ...

Remember, Joe Stone's Crab is a phenomenon who does not take reservations, even though a phenomenal crowd wanna eat at Joe's. Those are his own rules ... we got lucky for only one time!

Before cracking, ... ... ... read how to crack your "stone crab" >>>

The reason you come to Joe's !!!!
    2 more images

Many say that this is the best restaurant in Miami, and it's hard to argue that. Joe's has been here for almost 100 years and of course everyone comes for the stone crabs which are in season from October to early May ..... the only problem with Joe's is that it takes no reservations, so one must be there when the place opens at 5:00 pm for dinner if not your in for at least a 2 hour wait. A must do in Miami. Bring your $$$$$ because this place was meant to take plenty of it !!!!!

Snappers Pier Five: Seafood at Bayside

by grandmaR Updated Aug 23, 2003

Our boat Dec. 2002 and Miami in the background

When we were going to get our customs decal for the boat in February 2001, we had to wait while customs ate lunch when the office was closed. We were hot and tired (after an overnight passage), so we stopped at Bayside and ate at Snappers which was one of the first places we came to. We ate outside overlooking the marina.

Favorite Dish: I had a cup of soup and a Ceasar salad. Bob had a hamburger.

Then I wanted to go to the bathroom, so I asked because it wasn't obvious where one was. They use the mall bathrooms, and it was a stealth bathroom - completely unmarked door.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.: Don't Miss The Fresh Seafood!

by supercarys Updated Apr 14, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant has all the names on the menu in theme with the movie. While we were waiting for our meal, our waiter came and asked Forrest Gump movie trivia questions. I ordered a "Bubba's After the Storm Bucket of Trash", which was lobster tails, prawns and fish and chips. My friends had popcorn shrimp and salad and fish and chips. We got a Run Across America sampler of prawns, battered prawns, chips and spinach dip and Hush Puppies. I had a speckled lemonade as well (lemonade with strawberries in it).

YUM! It cost $75 but it was worth it, it included tax and tip.

Favorite Dish: 'Bubba's After the Storm Bucket of Trash' is great. It's full of tasty seafood and they actually serve it in a metal bucket!

Try a speckled lemonade too, it's very nice.

Very informal, inexpensive but the freshest seafood in Miami. Fish, shell fish, lobster, crabs, you name it fresh and cheap. Don't expect a five start service crew but for casual and pinturesque it can't be beat. Right on the Miami's river north shore.

Favorite Dish: The whole Yellow Tail fried snapper, and their grilled Florida spinny lobster tails.

Fresh seafood served in non pretentious surroundings in a strip mall in Kendall at the junction of Sunset and 127th Avenue. Pleasant owner, and the food is fresh indeed

Favorite Dish: Since I was leaving for Asia the next day to a country where I might not be able to get Salmon, I ordered Grilled Salmon on a bed of rice and salad. it was quite early in the evening so one drink was complimentary if you order one, so I had a glass of californian chardonnay.
My sister had grilled combo which was shrimp and mahi mahi. and she said: Mahi Mahi is the filet mignon of Fish
The Bill was 46 usd including tax and tips.

  • Seafood: For Great Seafood Go to Fish Joynt

by ERox Written Dec 1, 2007

If you're in the South Florida area and are craving seafood, Fish Joynt in Aventura is the place to go. This has to be the classiest, best restaurant ever to grace the property of a strip mall. They've updated the look of the restaurant with a wine lounge so you can either have a nice, formal dinner in their other rooms or enjoy the coziness and intimacy of their new lounge and munch on select choices like sesame seared ahi tuna, crab cakes, delicious tempura jumbo shrimp that are pretty much the largest and most delicious ever.

Every room is adorned with paintings, including those of executive chef Tony. He along with other family members run this world-class, fine dining seafood restaurant. The service is great and the overall atmosphere creates a surprisingly memorable and absolutely delectable dining experience.

Favorite Dish: The pistachio-encrusted Chilean sea bass, hands down. I also love the different complimentary sides they include with your meal, including hummus, potato pancakes, three bean salad, pate, or the most amazing egg salad I've ever tasted. And for desert go with the Montblanc.
