by Katmosphere The Everglades are a really unique enviornment, hike on one of the nature trails and see an amazing amount of alligators and birds. The Indian villiages are also nice places to visit, native crafts and an interesting insight into their heritage. An airboat ride through the glades is a must for anyone visiting the Everglades. I visited Vizcaya when we lived in Key West with the antique car club. We had the cars on display in the courtyard (toward the street) for some kind of festival. I toured the house at that time and took pictures (two of which are included) We went back this past visit and no photography was permitted inside the mansion - not even by professional photographers. So I took some pictures through the window. I thought perhaps I could buy a picture of the things I wanted to record, but what I really wanted was a weather vane which showed the speed and direction of the wind inside the room, and I could not find that in any photos or postcards. Professional photographers pay a whooping fee just to take photos outside. The gazebo at Viscaya by Katmosphere Viscaya is a beautiful old mansion on the bay that is now open to the public. It was originally the summer home of John Deering, (Deering tractor ) The gardens are great, and there is even a maze garden, but it's too short to actually get lost in. All of this is set against a tropical, waterfront view with a stone dock that is shaped like a large boat, and a really pretty gazebo. Viscaya is very close to Key Biscayne, downtown Miami and Coconut Grove, and is worth seeing. Leave a Comment Address: 3521 South Miami AveDirections: Right between Coconut Grove and Downtown Miami.

I don't know that I would call this a Must-See. We had to see it if we used this marina. The website says it is Miami's number one tourist attraction which is a bit of overhype IMHO as I think there are other places in Miami that attract the tourists more than this place. It is adjacent to the port of Miami and is connected to American Airlines Arena, home of the Miami Heat. It is accessible by the monorail - there is a stop nearby. There is a parking garage and valet parking down by the Hard Rock. Leave a Comment

Beautiful beach located in North Miami Beach. Clean beautiful sandy beaches, great swimming and popular with Europeans due to it's clothing optional status. People here are laid back, sociable and contrary to what you may think, gawkers are more likely to be curious 1st timers rather than the mostly regulars who have come to love this beach for the closeness and friendliness that (ahem) nudity seems to bring. Removing clothing is NOT required, and only about 70% of people are actually clothes free. All levels of nudity both male and female are to be found throughout. People will not judge you on wether you choose to take your clothes off or not and body shape/size is not critized here. Truly a relaxed, feel free atmosphere! The Florida Keys are definitely a Must See, but they aren't really in Miami. Miami is an hours drive from the farthrest north of the keys - Key Largo. Going all the way to Key West will take 4 hours or more by road. Key Largo is advertised as the Dive Capitol of the World (which is a bit hyperbolic) and Islamorada is advertised as the Sports Fishing Capitol of the World (ditto), and Key West is the Southernmost City in the Continental US (which is true but the continental part is because Hawaii is farther south). It's a sub-tropical climate (not tropical in spite of what some advertising says). Leave a Comment Directions: from Miami International Airport , take LeJeune Road south to 836 West. Take the Florida Turnpike south toward Key West. The Turnpike ends at US 1 in Florida City. Follow U.S. 1 south about 22 miles to Key Largo and you are now in the Florida KeysWebsite: http://www.fla-keys.com/

Driving through the Grove by grandmaR Coconut Grove is mainly of interest to us because we drive through it on the way from Miamarina to our daughter's house. We ate at Hooters for the first time here, when my daughter took us to see the sights. They have a big shopping mall called Coco Walk there, and a lot of upscale stores. It is very hard to park in the Grove. I've been interested in seeing the Barnacle Historic Site, and I've tried to go to Dinner Key Marina a couple of times (to stay there on our boat or to eat dinner there), but without success in all cases. Bahama's version of Calle Ocho and located in Grand Avenue, Coconut Grove. Reported to be the largest black heritage festival in the US, it started in 1977 and it has grown from there. It is geared towards the Bahamian roots in Miami and features dancing in the streets, music, calypso and ra-gae music. Dancing to the steel drums, watching the colorful costumes parading down the beautiful streets of Coconut Grove and sampling all that delicious Caribbean food makes for an intoxicating weekend! I find it more fun than Calle Ocho - Dont miss it if you have a chance. Always in August, check for specific times. Admission is Free Runs Friday through Sunday 10:00am - 11:00pm Leave a Comment

At one point, you might start wanting to find a stretch of beach which does not have the sometimes overpopulated and constricted feel of central South Beach (like between 3rd and 7th). When that time comes, try heading further north along the coast towards the area of 79-87th streets. There are several public beaches in this area which do not suffer from the tourist invasions which can sometimes occur in the more southern parts of South Beach. Youýll notice that these beaches are frequented by the locals of Miami and are remarkably a bit cleaner and quieter. A good plan could be to start your day on the beach near 3rd Street, and then move north towards 87th street in the afternoon. A beautiful Afternoon on Miami Beach by melissa_bel Once you are in Miami Beach, the shore is not far… cross Ocean Drive and voila... the ocean is yours. The beach is beautiful and the water has the colour of a swimming pool. If you like snorkeling, the water is a little bit blurry at first but passed a big sandbar, it is crystal clear and you'll be able to see some critters. Hopefully for me and my ego, top-models are not here. During the winter and early spring, South Beach looks like a world models gatherings. They even have their own beach volley tournament, volleypalooza, that became kind of a fixture now. Ladies, South Beach is the only public beach I know that allows topless sunbathing. So, if you’re not shy and want to get rid of those tan lines, you know what to do. Leave a Comment Address: Miami Beach
