    Merrick House

by Splint Updated Dec 16, 2006

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Merrick house, located at 907 Coral Way, is the boyhood home of George Merrick, developer of the City of Coral Gables. Guided tours of the house run at 1,2 and 3pm on Wednesdays and Sundays. A visit and tour of the Biltmore hotel can be done on a Sunday (tours of the Biltmore run on Sundays at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30pm) which would work well with a trip to Merrick House and a visit to the Venetian Pool (Venetian pool is e few minutes walk from Merrick House).
Some suggest a stoll along Miracle mile should be included in a trip to Merrick house, in my opnion give the Miricle Mile a miss, there's nothing worth seeing there.

Bus 24 will drop you virtually at the door of Merrick house, see also bus 224.

This is a wonderful park located just south of Coral Gables next door to Fairchild Gardens. It has picnic areas, wildlife to see, boat marinas. Many people come here to ride jet skis or to parasail. You get great views of Downtown, Miami Beach and Key Biscayne.

This independent municipality is one of the most exclusive locations in Miami, and definitely the most beautiful. The houses are all custom, mostly Mediterranean in style. The streets are lined with palmettos and banyan trees. A must see! You can see the travelogue.

    Coral Gables City Hall

    Coral Gables City Hall

Coral Gables is a lovely, if pricey, city that exudes opulence and comfort.
George Merrick designed the city to be a
model suburb , with a decidedly mediterranean theme , huge gateways , and wide , tree-lined streets.
