Bus transportation isnt that great in Miami. So, of course, Id recommend that you rent a car if you can. But if you cant, a one -way fare is $1.50 and 50 cents extra for a transfer. You can also use the Metrobus shuttle for only 25 cents! Very practical in South Beach! On Metrobus, the fare box accepts tokens, dollar bills, quarters, dimes, and nickels. You can save up if you buy tokens instead. Leave a Comment

motorhome-miami by RoyJava From Europe we always landed at Miami International Airport (MIA), about 19km (12min) west of downtown. It is the main US/Latin American gateway. Good to know Miami services major European Airlines and best way to fly within the US is from NY airports, I heard, but the New York-Miami route is also the most crowded. There were times about merely 20 motorhomes could be watched driving to specials spots in Miami, leaving the hotels early in the morning. That was fun, 'cause one area could be "used" by the Elle fashion-, Harper's Bazar- and C&A-crew at the same time. Because of the permits we could drive all around, still there particular areas "not to be photographed" ... (like around the island where all the famous and rich live) Leave a Comment

I used the metro to get to the hospital - my daughter or SIL took me to a station and there was one right at the hospital. The metro website says: Miami-Dade County's 22-mile, elevated rapid transit system runs from Kendall through South Miami, Coral Gables, and downtown Miami; to the Civic Center/Jackson Memorial Hospital area; and to Brownsville, Liberty City, Hialeah, and Medley in northwest Miami-Dade, with connections to Broward and Palm Beach counties at the Tri-Rail/Metrorail transfer station. The 22 accessible Metrorail stations are about one-mile apart, providing easy access for bus riders, pedestrians, and passengers being dropped off and picked up. Parking is available at 19 Metrorail stations, including the new Palmetto Station. Transit Fares Service Full Fare Reduced Fare Metrobus & Metrorail $1.25 $.60 Leave a Comment

Driving to impress by balisunshine Lets admit….. boys love to show off fancy, expensive toys to their peers and to hopefully impress the girls. If you’re looking to rent a real nice car, an option can be Exotic Car Rentals. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor HomePhone: 305-531-7990

Ready for pick up!!! by balisunshine If you’re traveling alone, and don’t want to spend the price for cab, a cheaper way to get to/back the airport is the Supper Shuttle. If you have a long lay over for the day, you can always venture out to your own day tour in Miami Beach for less than $40 R/T on the supper shuttle. For pick ups at the hotel, you need to reserve by phone the day before. The pick up for international flights may be 3 hours before. Prices are cheaper when the pick up/drop off is from/to a hotel. You will most probably share the van with someone else, up to 7 people on a very busy day. There are several Supper Shuttle stands at the exit of baggage claim on the 1st floor. You will spend more time waiting for other passengers than you would in a cab. If you are traveling with someone else, it may be cheaper for 2 passengers to travel in a cab. So ask first at one of the information booths located outside of the lauggage area. Prices on the Super Shuttle range from: Around the airport area $10 Coconut Grove area $14 - $17 Key Biscayne area $16 - $20 South Beach area $14 - $17 North Miami Beach from 71st street and up to Bal Harbor area $15 - $18 Sunny Isles/ 163rd – 185th St. $17 - $21 Coral Gables $13-$14 Ft. Lauderdale $23 - $36 Port Everglades $24 *Tip not included. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPhone: 305-871-2000Website: There is no web-site

Hop on the Sky Walk! by balisunshine Ok. Lets say you are not stopping in Miami, but a you have to change planes there and you just happen to arrive into concourse A or B and need to get to concourse D in a short spand of time and on top of that you just got off a VERY long flight.... Take an elevator to the 3rd floor and hop on the sky walk. You can walk it, or you can stand on it while it transports you all the way across concourse to concourse. If you pick up a trolley, you can take them along too! Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Was a bit funny to be forced to enter my own country through immigration, and just for transit, but well. This whole airport is now completely to be renovated, and the parts that yet are finished do in deed look great, other parts really are run down, and there are long distances to walk. Passing through migration is no fun at all either, though I didnt have any troubles. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Miami Airport arrivals by mafootje When you arrive at Miami International Airport you probably want to get to your hotel as fast as possible to take a rest. There are many ways to get out of the airport to your destination, a lot of them are free. Most hotels and car rental companies have shuttle buses which have stops just outside the arrival building. The drive very frequent so a cab won't me that much faster in most cases. If you plan a road trip and you are renting a car you could decide not to rent it on arrival. This could save you a day of rental fee and you probably won't be driving the first night anyway. Just take the hotel shuttle instead to the hotel. The next morning you take the hotel shuttle back to the airport and from there take the shuttle from the rental company. It may sound complicated but believe me it is much more relaxed then taking your luggage to the car rental on arrival wait in line and put all your luggage in the car. It probably will save you between 1 and 2 hours on your first night. And if you get here from Europe you probably wake up early due to your jetlag so you won't be losing a lot of your first day by getting your car... Picture taken december 4, 2004 Leave a Comment

The Miami waterfront near the Miami River by grandmaR There is a new ferry service from Miami to Key West. which should take 3-3.5 hours to make the trip. This is faster than you can usually drive the distance, but slower than the plane trip if you only include the actual time from take-off to landing. I have not used this ferry and the photo is of a marina in Miami, and not of the ferry terminal. Thursday through Sunday Departures: Downtown Miami---------7:30 a.m. (Sealine Marina) Downtown Key West----------5:30 p.m. (The Bight) VIP CLASS (21 AND OVER) (most expensive rates) PASSENGER PRICE SAME DAY = $138 R/T ONE WAY = $98 DIFFERENT DAY = $158 R/T Children under 5 are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Parking in Miami is provided by Paradise Parking Systems. Valet service is located at the lobby entrance of the Doubletree Grand Hotel located at 1717 N. Bayshore Drive, Miami Fl. 33132. A Fast Cats patron will receive a $5.00 per day discounted rate. Gratuity not included. Leave a Comment
