Books & Books: Your local book merchant

by nomadig Updated Aug 23, 2008

Books & Books is a small bookstore chain that has a few outlets in and around Miami region -- there's one also in the Caribbean... The store we visited is located on a nice shopping street in Miami Beach.

The store is not extremely big, but is has a wide variety of books and magazines, and some toys for smaller children. All major literature categories are present, which is quite a feat for such crammed space. There is also an excellent café in front of the store, so you can start savouring your finds with a cup of mocha immediately.

The location is good for popping over from the beach to get more books or magazines to read. However, it is not on the seashore, so be prepared to walk a few blocks.

    Bal Harbour Shops: Luxury concentration

by nomadig Updated Sep 3, 2008

Bal Harbour Shops is a convenient shopping mall for anyone interested in luxury clothing and accessories. Don't let the raw concrete fool you -- there are mostly luxury brands in the shopping center together with a few cafés and restaurants. The available brands include, among others, Chanel, Hermes, Prada and Bulgari. The industry heavy-weights, so to speak

The mall is located a bit away from the busy southern end of the Miami Beach island, and is best accessible by a car -- black luxury sedan preferred. The stores are not for people with thin wallets, unless there is one gold or platinum card for the expenses. As there is plenty of shops, the selection in the mall is generous, eclectic and pricey.

    Hermès: Ultimate French luxury

by nomadig Written Sep 3, 2008

Hermès, the highest of the high in French fashion has its beautiful store located among its peers in Bal Harbour Shops mall. The brand is famous for their signature scarves, but there is a lot of other stuff worth buying for. If you are worthy enough... The store is really pricey, and most of can afford to buy a scarf or some other small paraphernalia.

They sell also clothing, bags and other stuff. The bags are classics, but price goes really through the roof.

The service, as usual in Hermès store, is top-notch. Attentive, focused and patient.

Shopping South Beach style: Everything is here

    by Shaft28 Written May 28, 2003

You name the high end brand, and they have the store or a store that has it in South Beach. And I thought the plane tickets were wife put us in the poor house!

Actually we had a lot of fun shopping in South Beach. The service was either spectacular (for some reason 30year old men ruled) or sucked bad (early 20's women). But we managed to do some damage.

Everything you can want in the highly fashionable SoBe.

What to buy: What not to buy, as my wife would say.

    What to pay: too much
