After having been steady customers for over two years, the owner (Rich Marinacci) took exception to my 81 year old mother taking the unfinished table bread home with her (did he want to reuse it?). When I confronted the owner about this (as he didn’t have the decency to complain to me himself but had a server tell us), he became defensive and rude casting, himself as the victim. What a way to treat loyal customers, we’ll never go back. Shame on you!

The Goblin Market Restaurant came so highly recommended, that my sisters and I decided to try it out for lunch on a recent visit to Mount Dora. It's book-lined walls give a cozy and enchanting feel to this lovely restaurant tucked down an alley. We happened to go during a busy lunchtime, so at times the service was a bit slow, but they had a very friendly staff.
Besides the indoor dining, there is also patio dining under umbrellas. We were all impressed with the dishes we ordered, service, & atmosphere.
Favorite Dish: We all agreed that the Crab Bisque with a side of sherry to drizzle over it was a 5-star treat! I'd like some right now! I ordered the Chicken & Mushroom Montague, which was yummy. One of my sisters ordered the Beef Tenderloin Salad, which she told us was very good, but almost too generous with the tenderloin beef. The other sister ordered the Crab Cake Salad, which she said was GREAT.
All dishes were in the $9-10 range and they offered a very nice wine list.

i have a problem deciding which is the best restaurant in mount dora and think it's a toss up between pisces rising and the gables. both are excellent restaurants in my opinion. i lean towards pisces rising because of their nice view of lake dora. a great place to have diner and watch the sun set over lake dora. good food moderately priced.

While we were in the area, we ate twice at BARNHILL'S both times with Hans' brother and wife. It was an awesome buffet, with everything from chicken, ham, roast beef, fish, salads, soup and dessert bar - all for $8.99 US

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. It is located down one of the back alleys in historic Mount Dora. The building is an old renovated warehouse, but feels more like a home. There are two dining rooms that appear to be book lined dens. The setting is very casual, some what dark, with new age music piped throughout. Besides the two indoor dining rooms, there are dining areas located on the back and front patios.
We stopped in at the Goblin Market for lunch after a long day of shopping around Mount Dora. It was a gorgeous day out so we chose to sit on the back patio. The patio was very charming. It was set up with patio type furniture with umbrellas, flowers and trees overheard. It's a small area with maybe 8 tables and is a bit crooked.
The food was excellent. Most of the food on the menu were salads and sandwiches with special touches. For instance, I had a club sandwich with avacado and artichokes. The food was unusual, but very good. The special touches in each dish are truly unique.
Favorite Dish: All dishes are wonderful and unique.
