Hurricane season, Navarre

A walk on the beach

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Although snow is nearly unheard of, it gets cool enough for a jacket in December and January, especially if you go for a walk on the beach. Summers are hot, hot, hot. Thank goodness for the ocean breeze. January and July are the wettest months usually but the showers only last about 15-20 minutes.

Miscellaneous: Don't forget the sunscreen. Florida sun is hotter than most places in the US. Add to that the reflection off the water and the white sand and you could be headed for trouble without it.

Undamaged dome?

Favorite thing: As we drove up and down the beach road, Bob remarked that some types of construction seemed to be more easily damaged than others. But we couldn't really tell if the buildings that looked unscathed were really built better, or if they had just been repaired first.

Vinyl siding didn't seem to fare as well as wood. Metal roof components seemed to be partly covered with plywood or blue plastic (see road scenes travelogue).

But this little building seemed to be all right.
