We actually brough a suitcase on our last trip since it was an extended stay.

Comfotable walking shoes for the parks and flips for the water parks.
Bathing suit for the water parks and resort pool.

Shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, tooth brush, toothpaste, hair gel, hair brush, contact lenses, contact lens solution and my glasses.

Sunscreen is a must in Florida unless you want to look like a Lobster.

Digital camera and video camera with extra tapes. Memory card reader.

An umbrella is always a must....it is Florida.

Refillable water botle. Water can be pricey so bring an empty into the park and refill it at water fountains as you go along.

Bring extra bags for the extra stuffs that you're going to buy while in Orlando. We actually bought 3 big bags for the excess stuffs that we bought.

Because of the unpredictable weather in Orlando. One should not miss to bring umbrella and Ponchos/raincoat. Umbrella for either sunny or rainy day :-)
Comfortable shoes or thick sole slippers or sandals coz you'll be doing a looooooooot of walking.

    A. Although its not that hard to find paracetamol and anti allergy medicines in Orlando. It is better to bring your own. You may not find the brand that suites you.
    B. Sunscreen ~ Apply sunscreen with a SPF of atleats 15, paying special attetnion to your ears, face , nose and shoulders.

Batteries, charger, water proof case or water proof camera.

    A. Mist fan to cool you down on a hot and sunny day.
    B. Wear a hat
    C. Wear sunglasses with UV Protection
    D. Bring a small bag or a back pack wherein you can put your stuffs.

-Don't forget to put sunblock on before going to parks.
If have kids, bring a notebook and pen for autographs from the Disney characters.Best if each kid has own pen.
-Wear comfortable tennis shoes, you are going to be walking a lot.
    -sunglasses
    -camera
-you are allowed to bring food and water and and snacks in park (beverages ok if not glass containers)
Is nice to bring a few juices and snacks for kids with price of food/drinks so expensive.
But do not bring more than you want to carry all day.

  • Often stray showers will fall while you are visiting a park. This fact is not lost on Disney! Most all gift shops in all the parks sell Mickey ponchos costing about $8 or so for the adult size. The first time we got caught in the rain, we had to buy these ponchos. Now I pack one for each of us so that we can still continue having fun in the parks. It's hilarious to see a huge crowd, adults & children alike, all wearing yellow ponchos with Mickey Mouse on them!

Now as far as rides go, some people really like to get wet on "Splash Mountain" in the Magic Kingdom & such which is alot of fun. If you like to get wet, I suggest wearing light clothing that dries quickly in the sun! But if you ride the "Kalahari Rapids" ride in Animal Kingdom, expect to get drenched!! I don't like to walk around with a wet seat half the day, so I wear my poncho! You can always tell people who have never been on the ride before--they're the ones who look like they just took a shower fully clothed!!

For a weekend trip, the two of us could easily stuff our needs in to my one roll-aboard TravelPro suitcase. That didn't leave room for any purchases, of course.

Shorts, t-shirts, something nice to wear to dinner, sandals and DEFINITELY bring a rain coat, poncho or umbrella, unless you like getting wet. Expect rain in Florida most of the year 'round.

Mosquito repellent isn't a bad thing, though on this trip, it was Winter and we weren't bothered. Sunscreen is a good idea in the Summer, but not necessary in December.

My trusty Nikon Coolpix was just dandy.

  • It is very hot here during the summer, and usually during the fall also. However, most of the restaurants, stores, and other indoor places have their airconditioning on like 50 degrees F, and I never go out without bringing a jacket, to wear indoors during the summer. The humidity is worst in August, so be prepared for sweating a lot outside. On most days during the summer there will be a thunderstorm in the afternoon, so be prepared for large amounts of rain in a short period.

You MUST wear sunscreen outside ( SPF 30 and up) , if you are out more than 5 minutes most of the year. Everyone, regardless of how well you tan. If you stay outside all day without sunscreen, you will most likely end up in the emergency room with a severe sunburn.

Don't camp in a tent in July or August: too hot , too many thunderstorms and bugs. If you camp, do it in March or April, maybe May.

Having our own GPS unit during our travels made our lives easier esp when we travelled from one state to the other. the easiest route, nearest hospital, attractions, restaurants, grocery, gas station etc are all provided here through one touch to the screen :-) Although updates are needed esp for new locations of restaurants, shops and even the roads still it was very useful and helpful during our trip. Car rental company do provide GPS unit for an additional charge so, it is better to get one on your own esp for future travels.

  • In my experience, there is so much to buy in Orlando (both souvenirs in the parks, and from all of the shopping malls / outlets), try to keep your case as empty as possible so that you can fill it up when you get there.
Remember - there is a luggage restriction on the airlines!

  • Take as large a suitcase as possible, because even if you don't fill it when you go out there you are almost sure to fill it on the return journey with souveniers of Mickey and friends or cheap clothes like Levi's Jeans and Nike Trainers.

When we went in October it was very warm most of the time so t-shirt and shorts was the order of the day.Tops must be worn in most of the theme parks. But it is always advisable to take a light raincoat just in case, and some people like to wear them on the water rides. For the night-time you should take trousers and shirts if you want to go to some of the bars and clubs as they wont let you in without them. A jumper is always advisable as well just in case, as it can sometimes get chilly at night.

You don't need to take anything special because if you run out you can get almost anyhing from the nearest pharmacy or supermarket quite cheaply.

I would take lots of film or memory cards, especially if the holiday is a once in a lifetime trip, although you can buy them quite cheaply almost anywhere, along with disposable cameras. I used about 15 films while I was there. A video camera is also a good idea with plenty of blank tapes and don`t forget to take your battery charger.

Take plenty of sunblock and aftersun as it can get very hot over there even if you do get the occasional rainstorm.
