Taking an airboat around the waterways of the Everglades is a wonderful experience. We spent just over an hour on the lake and saw a lot of different birds including herons, kites and eagles.

The scenery was lovely and we went around a various speeds and through different types of water plants and along tree-lined waterways.

Whilst the airboat was moving, it was lovely, cool experience but when we were stopped in the sun, it soon got very warm.

Everglades National Park - Walk across it!!!!!!

    Only knee deep.

I bet you did not know that you can actually walk across the Everglades!! The boat driver stopped the air boat and demonstrated to us that the water is knee deep for most of the everglades and advised that there are a number of islands that stretch the entire width of the Everglades. These islands support an abundance of wildlife including bobcats, Florida panthers, foxes & bears.

    Alligator laying in wait

The best time to see alligators in the park is during the winter dry season. At that time, they get together near the deeper water holes. All sizes and ages, from ten-inch babies to an occasional twenty-year-old, ten-foot-long adult, can be seen lounging on the bank along the Anhinga Trail.

Everglades National Park - Air boat tours.

Thrill ride and informative at the same time.

Many wonders may be seen from a car window, but the Everglades reveals its greatest treasures to those who take the time to get out into it and experience its beauty firsthand.
Air boat tours are readily available and you can hire canoes, boats or simply go on a walking tour. The air boat tour was a thrill ride and was informative all at the same time as the tour offers an excellent talk on the wonders that this area has to offer.
Another great way to spend a day!

Airboat Ride on the St. John...

Airboat Ride on the St. John River
This was a lot of fun. They only have small airboats so you have to make reservations. 4 people to a boat. The small boat was a big part of my attraction to this ride. Other operators cram 12 people into a boat. They supplied ear protection.
