Universal Studios - Islands of Adventure, Orlando
These theme park is a top attraction in Orlando. I went with my family last year, and we had a gret time in the beautiful summer sunshine. The Harry Potter section was amazing, and (as being from the UK) it all seemed really realistic! The HP ride was incredible, but the queues are (as always) far too long. My children absolutely adored the Incredible hulk ride, it goes round and round about 20 times! Overall it is great family fun, there is something for everyone!
This theme park is popularly known as Universal Orlando. You will experience here the two main parks. As they say, you can jump into the action with the movies at the Universal Studios and head on to the next and experience the Universal's Islands of Adventure. There are many things to do in your adventure with Universal Orlando Resort. So be prepared for an all day celebration at this most exciting park. I posted a link to Universal Orlando for you to get more information on events and packages that is happening in the resort. Have fun!
I visited Islands of Adventure for the first time in December 2005. Let me preface this tip by saying that I am not a roller coaster junkie. That said, Jurassic Park was the ride only one I felt semi-comfortable about trying. That's because unlike its sister park next door, Islands is all about thrill rides. I still had fun, but others in my party received quite a rush from the park's high speed offerings. There seemed to be a debate over whether Dueling Dragons or Hulk was the better coaster. My wife thought DD was best, so I'll take her word for it. As for my ride, Jurassic Park was kind of a combination of Disney's Jungle Cruise and Splash Mountain rides. I liked it -- except for the drop at the end. If you are not into roller coasters, Universal Studios , next door, offers more sedate attractions. If you get the right kind of pass, you can actually walk back and forth between both parks on the same day.
Islands of Adventure is the second of Universal's parks. Islands of Adventure has more thrill rides than Universal studios. The park is divided into sections: Seuss LAnding, The Lost Continent, Jurrasic Park, Toon Lagoon and Marvel Superhero Island.
Seuss Landing and Toon Lagoon is geared more the children and families but we did ride the Dudley Do Right Log flume and Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges.in Toon Lagoon. Dudley was a fun flume ride that didn't get us too wet. Popey and Bluto was a water rapid adventure that kept us spining and geting splashed.
The Lost Continent was fun with Posideon's Fury. It is a fun adventure where you walk into caves that look like they have ancient Greek artifacts. All of a sudden you and your groupare trapped infront of Posideon where a water and fire battle begins for supremacy of the Gods. It was a fun atraction. Dueling Dragons is one of the roller coaster rides of the park but neither of us were in the mood of seeing our breakfast for the second time.
Jurrasic Park had some awesome rides such as the Jurassic Park River Adventure and the Pteranodon Flyers. The River adventure was a great ride on boats through Jurrasic Park and the dinosaurs are free. The ride ends with T-Rex ready to eat us when the boat plummets down hill for a final splash. It's good fun.
Marvel Super Hero Island has some incredible looking coasters: Spiderman, Incredible Hulk and Storm Form Aceleratron.
Islands of Adventures was a fun Park and we had a great time here.
We planned our trip to catch both Islands of Adventures and Disneyworld. For me, there was no comparison between the two. I loved Islands of Adventure and was less than thrilled with Disneyworld.
Islands of Adventure is a classic theme park - amusement park. Lots of rides, especially thrill rides. We thoroughly enjoyed the time that we spent at the park. Since we were staying at the Portofino Bay hotel, we got line jumper passes that allowed us to move right up to the front on all the rides - definitely the way to do it!!!
Here are some of our favorite things to do at Islands of Adventure:
Marvel Super Hero Island
Incredible Hulk Coaster- roller coaster
The Amazing Adventures of Spider Man-simulator 3-D thrill ride
Popeye & Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges- whitewater rapids ride
The Lost Continent
Dueling Dragons- dueling roller coaster with two different tracks
Poseidon's Fury - a special effects show where you can explore Poseidon's underground tomb
Drink Moose Juice and Goose Juice
A few years back, Orlando's Universal Studios theme park expanded their empire, with the launch of The Islands Of Adventure theme park. This is a sensational park, and the scale, amount and quality of rides is fantastic, considering the relatively short amount of time the park has been opened. The park is seperated in to distinct areas, such as Dr Seuss' playground, Marvel Superheroes and Jurassic Park!
Definitely favoured by the teenagers for the thrill rides. It has the wettest ride of any we have experienced anywhere in Dudley Do's Ripsaw Falls.
Seem to be lots of rides for the younger kids as well.
Don't miss Spiderman or the Hulk.
One minute you are taking a gentle raft ride watching dinosaurs going about their business, next minute the fences are broken and you are fleeing the deadly Raptors. You escape when your raft plunges 85feet in seconds causing a massive soaking tidal wave.
Learn about Dinosaurs with exhibits, displays and games, go to the nursery where you may see a Raptor egg hatch.
The Lost Continent
This ride is really two rollercoasters, Fire and Ice. They both offer different rides but at one point they both loop over with your feet dangling just inches from the people on the other ride.
The Flying Unicorn
Take a ride through the Encjanted Forest on this essentially children`s ride, but it still can be fun for adults. I would ride this before its neighbour, Deulling Dragons otherwise it will be a massive let down.
More to follow soon.
Universal Studios's newest theme park, Islands of Adventure is located next to Universal Studios. There are a lot of roller coaster rides in this park. I also enjoyed the Jurassic Park ride. However, I didn't want to ride the roller coasters because it makes me dizzy. So if you don't like roller coasters, Islands of Adventure may not be your "favorite" park. But still you should visit here.
The Harry Potter area at Islands of Adventure, which is one of the 2 Universal theme parks in Orlando deserves it's own tip, so here it is!
It just opened in 2010, and to avoid the massive crowds we waited until this year to see it, but...still crowded! It is absolutely worth it however, to stand in line for 75 minutes + to get on the new Harry Potter ride! It is the most amazing technology I have ever seen, and anyone that is able to get on such a ride ( don't do it if you get motion sick!!) and loves Harry Potter should go there at least once. The crowds in the area are so bad, they block it off, and give out "return tickets" for a certain hour, when you can get in ( this is just to get in the area, you still have to stand in line for the ride).
Besides the new ride, they have turned the old unicorn ride into the flying Hippogriff , the dragon ride is still the same, and the restaurant is now "The Three Broomsticks" , there is Olivander's wand shop, where, even that you have to stand in line for, plus Honeydukes candy store:) They even have chocolate frogs!
Islands of Adventure is another themepark within Universal Studios. Thrilling rides awaits you as you explore the Island of Spiderman, the Hulk and other superheroes. Character parade takes place in the afternoon at the Main St. (check brochures for schedules). So, if you plan to have photo sessions with these superheroes fro souvenirs and keepsake :-) better yet prepare your cam after the parade coz thats the time they do photo sessions except for Spiderman who has a special photo area. The rest of the gang will just be roaming around the Main St. after the parade.
Personally, this themepark is less spacious compared to the other themeparks in Orlando. Walkways are small, few resting areas and the place gets too crowded so easily.
Nevertheless, having photos with Spiderman, Wolverine, Storm and Capt. America wrapped up our day.
Bring extra clothes coz you'll get wet /soak if you'll go for the water rides.
Built on Universal Studios original car park, Universal Islands of Adventure (UIA) to me is Rollercoaster Heaven. Most of the park is cartoon and film themed, all the rides have something to do with a character of some sort.
The park is divided into different islands and are packed full of rides and attractions, they are:
Marvel Super Hero Island
The Lost Continent
Below are the continents with some of the rides available to you. I will start by writing about the rides that I have been on then add the others later.
Marvel Super Hero Island
The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman
The webbed wonder takes you on a three dimensional journey through the city streets, when he lands on the front of the car you actually feel the car move. The graphics are superb on this ride.
The Incredible Hulk Coaster
The ride takes you from 0-40mph in 2 seconds -skywards. The coaster takes you on an incredible ride of twists and turns on the green steel.
Doctor Doom`s Fearfall
Strap yourself in one of the two towers and let yourself be rocketed 150 feet into air before plummiting back to earth. This is one of the least scarey of the thrill rides, it gives you great views over the park though.
Dudley Do Rights Ripsaw Falls
This has to be the best log flume that I have ever been on with the last drop taking you underneath the water level at the bottom.
Popeye and Bluto`s Bilge-Rat Barges
Once again this has to be the best rapids ride that I have ever been on, set in a cartoon location you are certain to get a good soaking.
This is a separate theme park from Universal Studios. It's divided in to 5 areas: Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, The Lost Continent, and Seuss Landing.
They have a little something for people of all ages. Great roller coaster rides are Incredible Hulk Coaster and Dueling Dragons. The water rides are a good way to stay cool during the day. Spider-Man is a neat ride. Marvel Super Hero Island is a must see for comic buffs and Seuss Landing is a must for young kids.
Busts are Doctor Doom's Fearfall and Poseidon's Fury.
The best theme park probably after Universal Studios is Islands Of Adventure. It's just filled with fun rides! The best rides in Islands Of Adventure would be: spiderman, The Hulk and the jurassic park river adventure.
