Beware of the street vendors that seem to be everywhere offering free or discounted attraction tickets. These are time consuming gimmicks that cost you money and time. You end up having to go on a "90" minute tour, that usually lasts 2-3 hours, with someone trying to sell you a timeshare and they are relentless. If you really want discount tickets check out the internet before you go. Places like Ticket Mania.com and orlando tourest information center are good, reliable sources for discount tickets.
If you do however, find yourself a victim of one of these "vendors" and have to go on a sales presentation, make it as fun as possible. My husband and I kind of enjoy doing this now. We just take over the convrsation and hardley let the salesmen get a word in edgewise. We often make up things and tell outrageous stories to them just to watch thier reactions. Usually they are more than happy to get rid of you. One real effectvie way to get out is to tell them you'd love to buy and that you and your spouse or significant other are swingers and will only buy if he/she comes to a party at hotel tonight. Or that you insist on getting his or her home number so you can stay in touch and call every time you come to town. Leave a Comment

Universal Studio's in Orlando. I believe that this is the worst run Theme Park in the country. It took us over an hour waiting online to get into the Park. We already had tickets. There is no shade in the waiting area and even in March, the sun was pretty hot. Once inside the Park, the lines are very long, {Something that we never had at Disney World}, and the lack of water fountains and the lack of cleanliness was appalling. Leave a Comment

We went to Universal during the Mardi Gra. The parks were over sold by the thousands. Lines were long every where. The parks were so crowed a person could not walk without bumping into the person next to you. The bathrooms had lines out the door. I am disabled and asked if I could get into the bathroom to use the handicap restroom. The line was outraged that I wanted to go before any of them. I begged them to help me and also begged the police standing by telling them I have Crohn's Disease. No one would help me so I had an accident and my husband had to carry me out of the park to our car. On the way out we saw parents putting their kids in trees to retrieve beads from the parade, kids tearing down limbs to get beads, people pushing and the crowds were out of control. The police stood by doing nothing.
If you must go to this place go as early as possible. Right when they open the gates is best.
Florida has a lot of beautiful beaches, parks, and places to explore that are not crowded. I like going to a concert under the stars at Bok Tower in Lake Wales, the Nature Conservancy has nice walking trails, and bird watching that costs nothing to watch. We went to see the play Menopause that was hilarious in Orlando.
