Favorite thing: Over and above the restored house, there were two sets of pictures to put the restoration into perspective. First were the photos which were taken for documenting the house and furnishings for probate. Then there were the pictures taken before the restoration started after the house had been abandoned and vandalized inside (photo 2)

We could saw the desk that Rockefeller used (photo 5) and other areas that have been restored (photo 3 and 4)

    Looking out toward the river

Favorite thing: The two-acre garden along the Halifax riverfront was the property of John D. Rockefeller Sr. in the early 1900s. The gardens feature citrus trees, a grand promenade, streams and small bridges and a variety of seasonal flower displays during the year. For instance there was a Christmas Gala with carriage rides (call 386-676-3216 for information)

The grounds around the Casements are in great demand for weddings and they use some of the area inside the Casements sometimes for receptions.

Clean beaches, nice people... COLD water

by TxDevil Written Feb 25, 2003

Favorite thing: Ormond is one step away from the over priced Daytona. Just one tiny town North of Daytona... MUCH cheaper. I fell in love instantly.

Fondest memory: Walking up and down the beach until I got blisters on my feet. And wading SLOWLY into the water because it was soooo cold and refreshing.

Park your car on the side of...

    by CJD68 Written Aug 24, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Park your car on the side of the road and take a walk on the beach. It is still loose, white sand that you can squish your toes in. Not like the compacted sand of Daytona Beach. There are no cars allowed here! Another big plus is that this is residential area, so the beaches are much less crowded than Daytona's. If you are truely looking for peace & quiet and sunshine, check it out.

    Hungarian costumes

Favorite thing: On the third floor there is an exhibition of Boy Scout memorabilia and also hand embroidered regional Hungarian folk costumes. This was unexpected.
