Be Prepared! by tpangelinan Make a list in you computer and print it when you get ready to pack, then you can check off what you have and grad what's not checked off. Once you make it you never have to do it again! The less you pack, the less you carry.
Pack lite for Florida it's hot!
SUNBLOCK, (48SPF) SHOULD DO IT! You will STILL tan!
You will need lots of batteries, film or memory card and a laptop to download to is always nice. Leave a Comment

If you have children with you - expect them to get wet in the theme parks it is all part of the fun but if they decided to get wet one last time before you are due to leave & the Florida sun hasn't got the time to dry them take some extra clothes with you - leave them in the boot of the car & let the little blighter get changed in the car park!! Orlando is located inland and in the northern part of Florida. From late fall to early spring the temperture can get colder than many people would think. So if you are going during this time frame, take at least a long pair of pants and a sweat shirt.
Take lite rain grear. It rains often, but usually not all day.
Sunscreen, sure!!!

Delorme, Rand Mcnally and the AAA all have pretty good street maps and sight-seeing guides for Florida. So you should have a general state map with insert maps for the large cities and one of the what-to-see guides. Also if you are going to the Keys or to Orlando or Miami you should pickup a guide specifically for those areas because there is too much info about them to put into the state guide. all the maps and guides are readily available at the local bookstores or you can get some info in limited quantities at the welcome centers.

Travel light. Lots of changes are not required.
You don't need much particulary if you stay in a private villa. Washing facilities are excellent and a lot of clothes is unnecessary. Take casual wear. Nobody bothers in Florida. Cotton shorts and tee-shirts specially.
Take basics - you can buy anything you need there. Leave a Comment

We used a lot of roll bags.On long trips they doubled as pillows
light and cool. wear shoes that won't hurt your feet if you are on the go for hours at a time.If you have small kids, running shoes are nice!!
Sunblock, sunglasses with uv protection and if you are from the north like me,a hat and more sunblock.
take lots of film because there are a lot of photo opportunities
you may want to limit your exposure to the sun in the middle of the day.

by richiecdisc With all this beautiful water around, you'll want to bring a bathing suit.
Even those with naturally dark skin will need some type of sun block.
Beach chair comes in handy. How can you have a nice cold one lying down. ;=> Leave a Comment

For a trip to the Keys, pack light! A couple swim suits, shorts and shirts, a casual dressy outfit for going to the nicer restaurants. Beach gear - beach umbrella, beach chair if you like to sit on the beach (the state park beaches don't rent them), if you have your own snorkeling gear bring it - if not consider buying them at one of the discount dive shops - a good mask and snorkel will make all future beach trips more fun. We bought ours 10 years ago at Key Largo and still use them everywhere from the New Jersey shore to the Carribean islands; fishing gear if that's of interest (if your going out on commercial fishing trips they supply all equipment).
Sun protection!!!!! Good quality sunglasses to protect your eyes (not only for comfort from glare, but good sunglasses limit exposure to harmful UV rays that contribute to cateract formation and retinal damage)
Bring any and all types of equipment - anything from disposable cameras to underwater, panoramic, digital, or what ever...This is a very beautiful place!
Excellent camping opportunities at very reasonable rates at Bahia Honda State Park. Leave a Comment

If staying at one place a couple of suitcases are nice. If you are driving your own car, then space is not so important. If you are moving around 1 piece of luggage is best. Small backpack to take itmes for day use at the beach.
Causal. Shorts can be worn most times, however if you are there in winter, then a coat and long pants and warm clothing are wise since it does get cold sometimes. A nice set of clothes for a nice dinner at a restrunt is nice.
Suntan lotion, solorcain. all toiletries are available there.
any photo equipment you need but didn't bring can be bought there.
Umbrella for those sudden downpours in the summer. Leave a Comment
