Dining often is followed by...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Dining often is followed by dancing, and Palm Beach County has plenty of places to boogie in any style, whether it be rock n roll, disco, ballroom, country & western or the current crazes. Many of the nightspots have live bands and others rely on expert deejays. Many of the restaurants have separate bars for dancing, and hotels often provide lounges with dance floors.

A number of spots, especially in downtown West Palm Beach, have music designed mainly for listening, including jazz in genres from dixieland to bebop to fusion, and folk. The piano bar is not as common as it used to be, but one still can be found here and there. Every Thursday night, a different band plays on the downtown West Palm Beach Library Plaza where arts and crafts booths are set up and food vendors offer light fare. Hundreds of people flock to this scene and stroll along Clematis Street, popping in and out of entertainment spots for an evening of fun known as Clematis by Night.

Special events are so numerous in the Palm Beaches that they have become a standard part of the leisure lifestyle. Of course, there is an abundance of theater, comedy, concerts, dance and other forms of cultural entertainment in the many performance halls for those whose nightlife tastes lie in that direction. The Arts and Culture section of the Guide provides a more detailed rundown, and the Special Events calendar also will prove quite helpful.

Every night, Palm Beach County comes alive with music, dancing and late-night entertainment. Whether you enjoy jazz, country, folk, rock ‘n’ roll or easy-listening performers, there’s undoubtedly a club, restaurant or lounge to your liking. Perhaps the hottest area for nightlife is Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach. Restaurants, clubs and shops stay open late in the evening, and passers-by can enjoy the sounds of live music. Special events are held almost every weekend, as well as “Clematis by Night” outdoor entertainment programs. Bands play at the downtown West Palm Beach Library Plaza at the foot of Clematis Street on Thursday nights, while arts and crafts and food vendors set up their booths.

Other locations for live entertainment can be found in Palm Beach, Wellington, Lake Worth, Palm Beach Gardens and other nearby communities. You don’t have to drive far to find a club featuring country and western or hard-driving dance music provided by live bands or experienced DJs. Many Palm Beach County restaurants have separate bars for dancing, and hotels often provide lounges with dance floors.

City Place and Clematis street: West Palm Beach downtown
There are hundreds of good night life areas in Palm Beach county like the Mizner Park in Boca Raton or the Delray Beach downtown area along Atlantic Avenue. Another good choice is the West Palm Beach downtown area. The old night life area in West Palm Beach was centered along the Clematis street. With the rejuvination of the West Palm Beach downtown a new night life area know as City Place was created in the heart of the city. City Place is an European inspired development which features upscale restaurants and night clubs.

Club Y: The only place to be
This is the best club north of south beach. It's in Palm Beach not downtown so that's a bonus. The bar is huge but the service doesn't reflect it. Definetly the place to be if you are in the area.

upscale casual, no tees, sneakers, flip-flops, torn-anything, hats, jerseys, etc.
