Enjoy a Park on a Spring: Wall Spring

Wall Springs is a great park with good paved walking trails, lots of unique picnic sports, piers to the water (fishing allowed) where you can see the Gulf of Mexico. Wall Spring is beautiful with the outline of a woman's face in it. The play grounds are excellent and are under a canopy which is even better. We had a really fun day with grandkids at the park. We have stopped there a couple o times now and each time find a new reason to appreciate the well restored park, that served as a healing springs in its earlier days. The storyboards share the special history of how this area attracted visitors in the past seeking health cures. Scenic views over the water and good walking trails.

Walk in the Park: John Chestnut, Sr. Park

We live a few miles from John Chestnut Sr. Park and often go for a leisurely walk there. They have at least 3 different paths consisting of boardwalks through the low land foliage (swamp) that also have great views of Lake Tarpon. On this recent visit we did the Peggy Park Trail which allows for a shorter walk or a longer walk. We opted for the longer walk and really like the shade provided on the trail for a summer day in Florida. The Peggy Park Trail has a boardwalk that winds to Lake Tarpon with some spectacular views, then it follows Brooker Creek, before winding back on a shell paved bath to the parking area for this section of the park. There are some great Florida Scenes - with wildlife -especially birds and deer. Photographers will enjoy as well as adults and kids. Heck this visit we even spotted a Yellow Rat Snake. We often do all 3 of the trails but today was just Peggy Park.

  • Guided Kayak Trips

by Samanyja Written Feb 26, 2008

My family had always wanted to try kayaking. We were on vacation and found their brochure, and thought this would be the way to try it. They provided everything we needed; the kayaks and gear, snacks, drinks, instruction, sunscreen, everything. They even take digital photos and give you the CD when you get back in. We felt so safe. The owners are retired police officers. One was also a white water rafting guide and the other was a search and rescue diver. We were in good hands. If you are in the area, you need to go out with them.
    Oh, and we saw dolphins!!
