Whatever you choose to do here in Palmetto, it is a wonderful place to live. I could travel the world over and will always choose to come back here. There is not much to do in Palmetto itself but watch beautiful sunsets or go kayaking on Emerson Point or fishing in the Manatee River but the location and neighboring towns are plentiful in day and nightlife.
I had just flown in to Tampa from Baltimore on my USA trip of October 2009 when Ann TheTravelSlutsuggested driving out for lunch. Her and her lovely husband Charlie took me out to Palmetto to the lovely Riverside Reef and Grill.
The views here are lovely, looking out to Manatee River through the marina and the breeze voer the water brings welcome relief.
Favorite Dish: I had their Fish and Chips (you can substitute for another side if you wish) which were divine.
Service was excellent - there's even a little buggy (golf cart) to run you down the pier from the car park to the restaurant!
This is a great local restaurant that has been around for a long
time. They are a little pricey, $10 - $25 range but worth it. They
also have an exotic menu featuring Alligator, Squid, Kangaroo,
Ostrich and more. Check them out! (Not to be confused with
the Crab Trap 2 ).
Favorite Dish: Fried Oysters & Shrimp platter, and Coconut Shrimp dinner
and they have great Clam Chowder
