pier park: shopping, eating, and drinking

    by doug48 Written Apr 20, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

there really not much to do in panama city after dark. your best bet is to take US 98 east to panama city beach. a good stop is pier park in central panama city beach. this new development offers shopping, dining, and bars. this area is more upscale than most of p.c. beach. a great place to visit for the business traveler and for those not interested in rowdy p.c. beach mega bars.

    Dress Code: casual.

Club La Vela: Largest dance club in the US

by KaiM Updated Apr 22, 2003

There isnĀ“t any other nightclub I know, that can stand comparison with Club La Vela.
14 dancefloors, lots of bars, several live stages, a huge pool area, access to the beach... the list goes on and on...
With a capacity of 6,000 Club La Vela is known as the largest nightclub of the USA.
Especially during Spring Break this club is packed and the crowd goes wild.

MTV and other tv stations are frequent visitors. So are famous rock bands.

Spinnakers: "Your Stock is Rising Number 2"

    by Jmill42 Updated Dec 17, 2002

Spinnaker's is a huge club right next to Club LaVela. It defintiely adds to the Spring Break madness. This place hosted MTV's first Spring Break broadcast. They have a large pool deck, waterfall, VIP lounge, and a pretty good restaurant, the Paradise Grill. It is setup similar to LaVela, in that it has different rooms with different music. However, it is not as big and doesn't have as many rooms. Still, it is a great place to party if you have had enough of LaVela.

Dress Code: Clubwear is the norm, but being in Florida, shorts and sandles are fine too.

Club LaVela: The Largest Club in the USA

    by Jmill42 Updated Dec 17, 2002

Club LaVela can be expensive, crowded, and... Oh yeah, that's why I came here. This is THE place to party during spring break. It isn't just awesome at night, during the day, outside at the pool is kickin' too. Huge buckets... yes, buckets of mixed drinks and bikini contests! Is there really any other reason for going to spring break?

Dress Code: While the sun is up, what else are you going to wear to the beach? After the sun goes down and the intoxication level goes up, the dress is definitely club-wear.

    by Ricardo_J_M Written Aug 26, 2002

Visit the strip and inquire about the place to be that specific night. They have a pass that lets you in to multiple clubs on different days...just be sure you will be able to take advantage of it.

Dress Code: It the beach....need I say more.

  • 'schooners' is always fun,...

'schooners' is always fun, although their dance floor is very small. middle aged, laid back sort of crowd with island sort of beach music. 'key west' is a dive-hole-in-the-wall-meat-market-groping-is-the-norm kind of place that has a lot of cigarette smoke, and some great music, particularly blues and hard core rock n roll. in the summer, you see a range of people from the 20's to the 70's, professionals, tourists, to hard core bikers. fights sometime break out, just learn to duck while sipping your favorite beverage. 'the wine bar' is a nice, quiet location which serves some very nice wines....a good place to have an intimate conversation. acoustical music generally played. 'la vela' is for the 20's crowd who love to party. 'spinnaker' is next door to 'lavela'...both are hot summer places for a techno/dance crowd. bring your condoms.

Dress Code: a fig leaf will do.
