    Tom's Hot Dogs

Tom's is almost an institution in Panama City and is widely known as having the best hot dogs in the area. The menu includes various types of hot dogs, other types of sandwiches, hamburgers, and chicken salad. Hours are 9 AM to 3 PM Monday through Saturday.

Favorite Dish: Try the chili dog. Great!

Bayou Joe's: Off the Beaten Path

    Bayou Joe's
    2 more images

Bayou Joe's is tucked away off the street along picturesque Massalina Bay. This is not the place to go if appearance is your big concern, or if you crave a fancy place. The facilities are basic; but they are working on improving them. The menu tends toward burgers, basic seafood baskets and some larger more intricate platters and pastas mostly centered around seafood. We were stopping for lunch so I opted for something lighter (sloppy Joes). The Sloppy Joes were better than average (you have to eat the better ones with a fork), but the side of potato salad was average at best. Nice people and a nice view of the bay and the boats docked just outside. Hours are 7 AM to 9 PM Tuesday through Saturday and 7 AM to 7:30 PM Sunday and Monday.

Favorite Dish: The Sloppy Joes were pretty good; but not great.

    Schooner's: Right on the beach!

by rsleisk Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

While we were in Panama City we ate dinner at the ultimate Panama City place to be, Schooner's. The place bills itself as the 'Last Local Beach Club & Restaurant', I wouldn't go that far seemed very touristy and not too local, plus there are many other places like it nearby.

What makes Schooner's unique is that it is right on the beach. The food was good and the scenery was relaxing, especially at sunset.

At sunset they shoot off a minature canon, a Schooner's tradition. There was entertainment with a band playing the night we were there.

    Favorite Dish: CRAWFISH BASKET $11
Lump crawfish meat lightly battered and fried to a golden perfection. Served with Bistro Sauce.

Great German food and beer in the St. Andrews area near the harbour. The inside is a little on the small side with plently of character. The beer selection is amazing and the food and service is excellent.

Favorite Dish: Jagersnitzel, Bratkartoffel and Erdinger Dark.

  • Captain Jack's: Overpriced Buffet--Avoid it

by foodienewday Written Mar 27, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This buffet costs nearly $24.00 and was all sub-standard fare--worth 7 bucks (possibly). Nothing seemed very fresh. You could go to any of the hundreds of Chinese buffets around and get better food without being gouged.

Favorite Dish: Their french fries were acceptable.

  • Dirty Dick's: Seafood Capital eh?

by SoonerWil Written Sep 28, 2006

Yeah as for Dirty Dicks, It was not so hott! Of course the atmosphere was ok but as far as the food it was nothing to write home about. In fact mine wasnt even good enough to finish. My date felt the exact same way! So I would avoid this place and look elsewhere.

Black Angus Restaurant: Grecian Grouper, is super!

by rsleisk Updated Aug 4, 2005

    Gulf Grouper

Wow, I really enjoyed my tasty Grecian Grouper at the Black Angus. Broiled gulf grouper topped with Feta cheese and Greek spices.

The restaurant was rather large with ample seating areas. The service was extremely slow despite not being busy, but the good food made up for it.

The menu, as the name suggests, also served steaks.

    Favorite Dish: Grecian Grouper rocked!

Captain's Table Fish House Restaurant & Oyster Bar: Great fresh shrimp!

by rsleisk Updated Aug 4, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I had some really good shrimp at the Captain's Table. The restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. The shrimp was excellent and all fairly priced. The restaurant gets busy frequented by locals, not a touristy place.

Favorite Dish: Shrimp: shrimp poboys, boiled shrimp, fried shrimp...basically the shrimp.

If your in the area then you must make it a point to visit this establishment. If you take my advice I promise you won't be sorry.

Favorite Dish: Bucket of Ribs. If you ever decide to visit then you must get the house specialty. You will not be disappointed. You may want to wash it down with a margarita.
