    Hofbrau Restaurant and Beer Garden

On Friday nights they open a keg and as long as it lasts the beer is free. The waitresses dress in traditional German outfits and there was a cute blonde playing the accordion. Inside looks like a traditional German beer hall (as a matter of fact the tables and benches came from the original Munchner Hofbrauhaus) and there is outdoor seating too. Hours are 11 AM to 10 PM Monday through Friday and 10 AM (for brunch) to 12 AM on Saturday and Sunday.

Dress Code: Casual is the norm. There were kids here too.

hofbrau beer garden: bavaria and the beach

    hofbrau beer garden

the hofbrau beer garden is a some what strange adaptation of the world famous hofbrau haus in downtown munich. the exterior blends in with it's beach bar themed neighbors while the interior is a replica of the famous bavarian beer hall. having visted the original in munich i found the panama city version very interesting. architecture aside, they offer a very good selection of german food and of course the world famous hofbrau beer. a very nice change of pace from the numerous seafood restaurants and beach bars in p.c. beach.

    Dress Code: casual.

    club lavela: mega beach bar

    by doug48 Written Apr 21, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

nightlife tips on panama city beach would not be complete with out the mention of club lavela. club lavela has been a famous spring break destination for decades. this mega bar has wet tee shirt contests by the pool during the day and nine bars in operation at night. the clientelle of club lavela is college students and 20 somethings. club lavela is a wild rowdy place that is definately a must see spot if you are single and under 30. my last visit to club lavela was about 20 years ago when i was in my 40's. because of my age at the time i felt out of place here.

Dress Code: almost none during the day. club attire at night.

Tootsie's Orchid Lounge is located just across the street from Hofbrau and on the Friday Night I was there it had live music. The band was pretty good and played Southern Rock. Lots of photos of musicians, bands, and customers on the walls. Small dance floor. Several beers and mixed drinks available. This is a spinoff of the famous Tootsie's in Nashville.

Dress Code: Jeans, T-shirts. Slightly older crowd with a number of bikers that night.

  • Club La Vela: lavela - a dissenting view

by drdisque Written Oct 12, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I am a former nightclub employee, therefore I am very critical of nightclubs so keep that in mind in this review.

There is only one thing that I like about this club, it is physically VERY impressive, it is VERY large. However, it was also very cheaply built and it is definitely showing its age. No number of people that this club can ever attract can ever make it seem busy. The crowd is very male and has a very poor attitude of simply trying to get laid, which 99+% of the crowd fails at doing. The DJ's are slightly better than other DJ's in PC and their lighting equipment is also above average, but whats it worth when 80% of their dance floors are flat out devoid of people? Also, this club has insanely high cover charges ($20+) and above average drink prices.

I would only suggest going here if you absolutely NEED to see the biggest club in the country, and even then, you'll probably still feel jipped.

This club is 80% outdoor, therefore one's opinion of it will largely be based on the weather, when I was there it was around 60 F and rather windy.

This club was not a good time in my opinion. I went for free because of a Lee Jeans T-shirt so it was no skin off my back, but I felt bad for the people who paid to get in. The architecture of this club makes me think it was never intended to be a club. The DJ booth cannot see the single dancefloor, this greatly affects his performance as he can't see what's going on. Also the DJ is kinda middle aged and seems like a HS Dance DJ rather than a wild spring break type guy that you want. dancefloor is large, unfortunately this club has trouble adequately filling it. No lights to speak of and being outside, acoustics are poor. Drink prices are above average.

Would only recommend if you're not paying

Dress Code: whatever, if its not absolutely warm out I'd suggest dressing more heavily than you typically do to a club.

Walking at night on the beach

    by red_stone Written May 3, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Walks on the beach are nice. There are a lot of people that will be having a small party at the edge of the beach in front of their hotels/motels. This is a good way to get to meet people. If not to meet people, it is a good way to enjoy the waves crashing, the moon rising, and if you are in a good spot....the stars. On occassion you will see a huge yacht way out in the ocean. You can see the lights from it.
Another thing you could do is to go for a walk on Front Beach Rd. This is where you will see people cruising, and walking. There is a place to go get icecream, play video games, miniature golf($50 prize if you get a hole in one on the last hole), and go-cart racing.

Dress Code: Nights are really warm, but breezy. You will most likely be sunburned, so you might feel a slight chill. If you plan to go walking at night, and think you might be gone for awhile, take a light jacket(not really necessary). Otherwise, you will be fine in a short sleeve shirt, shorts, and your choice of shoes. Preferrably sandals or flip-flops, due to the sand from walking on the beach.

Pineapple Willie's, a small indoor bar with a nice size deck. Not too crowded when we were there, but definitely a good time.
They have Fat Tuesday drinks. Will go anywhere for a 190 Octane :)

Dress Code: Casual beach, shorts and shirt.

Sort of like a college town bar, but right on the beach.
It's just across the street from the 'super clubs' (La Vela and Spinnaker), but not as crowded and cheaper. Great fresh shucked oysters and a good bar. Reasonably priced menu. Gets a little crazy during spring break.

Dress Code: If it's legal you can wear it.

    Varies: Plenty to choose from

by HotRodEtte Written Jul 6, 2005

We had a pub crawl our first night in PCB. We hit up places such as Sharky's, Spinnaker, Harpoon Harry's and ending with the world famous Club LaVela (see separate tip for this one). These places offered food, drinks, dancing, music and an all around great time.

Dress Code: Anything goes for attire; some people showed up in dresses, jeans and some in swim suit tops with shorts. During spring break, as long as you're dressed it doesn't matter what you have on!

Club LaVela: Everything under the sun

by HotRodEtte Written Jul 6, 2005

Located on the beach, this famous club was home to several hot body and wet T shirt contests during the day, and one of the hottest, most famous night clubs when the sun goes down. It holds 9 dance floors in separate rooms with all different types of music, a bar around every corner and 2 pools, one indoor and one outdoor. Definitely a place to check out.

Dress Code: None specific, mostly club attire but come hang out during the day in your swim suits!!! If I rmember correctly, the outdoor pool was closed at night.
