If you decide to fly, you can take a plane to Panama City airport or Okalusa airport.
It was strange to see that people in Panama City Beach all go by cars. Tourists use bycicles (not many) and very few go on foot.

  • By car. It's the closest beach to most of the southeast.
If you have to fly take this tip: fly into Tallahassee or Pensacola airports..they're a lot cheaper than the Panama City Airport. Rent and return your car from these locations. They're only an hour or so from PCB.
By car. Taxi's are not too pricey and there is a limo service that will take up to 6 people to anywhere on the beach for a flat $10.00.

Panama City and the beach are easy to find. To get the beach, turn right onto 23rd Street and head straight to Route 98 where you take right. Go over the Hathaway Bridge and bear left onto Thomas or Front Beach Road. Both will take you to water, but Thomas will take you to St.Andrew's which charges $4 to enter. You'll enjoy the propical paradise, guaranted!

  • I love to drive there, because you get to see everything instead of just flying over it. The driving gets tiring after awhile but it's great to be able to see so much of the United States
I drove around, but i would have to say the best way would be to walk or ride a motorcycle. It's just to crowded to say that driving is the best, but the Air Conditioning is a plus.

  • Right now, I would have to fly out there, because I live in Colorado. I just looked it up on the Internet to get a refresher of what the road numbers were, and it looks like they have made some changes to the roads. It shows 353 miles from Dalton, GA. With a avg speed of 52mph, you can get there in just under 7 hours. Just for your own convienence, you may want to plan a route to better serve you. I can say that if you are planning on going through northern Alabama, make sure you fill up on gas before you get to Alabama, and try not to fill up until you are in southern Alabama. I'm not kidding. If for some reason you have to fill up in northern Alabama, make sure you do so in a huge city, and not a small town off the interstate. You might find yourself feeling a little uncomfortable.

  • While in PCB, during mid-day, driving by car, you will want that air conditioner full blast.
In July: In the morning before 10am or the evening after 7 or 8pm, you might enjoy walking to where you need to go, if you are on Front Beach Rd.
They have motorbike rentals, which can be fun to do anytime of the day. You will see a lot of friends in groups riding motorbikes and scooters.
If you go for a walk during the day time, be sure to put on your sunscreen in the motel room before stepping out of your room.

St. Andrews State Park, located directly adjacent to Panama City Beach, is a must -see. When you're at St. Andrew's you can imagine what the area looked like before the high-rise condos, hotels, and clubs took over.

In 1995, Travel Magazine named St Andrews “The World’s Best Beach" and for good reason. St. Andrews consists of more than 1,000 acres of spotless sugar white sand, dunes, and emerald waters. While here, you can snorkel (rentals available), and do traditional beach activities or just explore. If you're lucky you may get a glimpse of some wildlife. Foxes, deer, coyotes, and other animals call St. Andrew's home. Also, be on the lookout for the rosemary that grows wild here.

A word of caution, while exploring, make sure you stay off the sand dunes and leave the sea oats alone. These serve as very important erosion protectors. So important, in fact, that disturbing them can result in a hefty fine.

Besides the beach activities there is also a great campsites and hiking trails. Camping fees are $8 in the off peak season (Oct.1-Feb.28) and $15 during spring/summer (Mar.1-Sep.30). Add an extra $2 each for a waterfront spot and/or electricity. The admission fee for non-campers is $5.00 per vehicle.

Finally, as one who loves to fish and has been spoiled by the great fishing in the area, St. Andrew's is a GREAT place to throw out a line. Fishing opportunities includes deep-sea jetty and surf fishing. Two fishing piers and jetties provide excellent vantage points year-round. The best part is the many differnt types of fish you can catch. Catches include spanish mackerel, red fish, flounder, sea trout, bonito, cobia, dolphin and bluefish. A shop in the park offers snacks, souvenirs, bait, fishing licenses, and limited grocery items.

  • Address: 4607 State Park Lane Panama City, Florida 32408
  • Phone: (850)233-5117
  • Directions: From Hwy 98 turn South on to Hwy 3031 (Thomas Drive) and follow it straight to Hwy 392 and turn left to enter into the gates of St. Andrews State Park. St. Andrews State Park is located approximately 3 miles east of Hwy 392.

There are many golf courses and numerous bars and clubs too.You can also rent or buy fishing equipment and sailing and flotation devices.
Be prepared to spend time shopping. There are a million surf shops and discount stores. Spend your time efficiently or you will not be able to catch everything. We'll have to catch the parasailing and dinner cruise next time.
Sounds of two-foot waves splash the scene beach, and a child's pure joy majestically transports. Tastes of ancient salt tickle your taste buds as red-hot sunrys penetrate your skin like a blazing fire.Reflection time passes. Like a child, you arise with eager anticipation of empowering, refreshingwater that beckons you like an altar call. You obey the edict calm, hair-thinglingsea breeze cools even you soul as you fall into the Jetties of St.Andrew State Park in Panama City Beach,Florida.
