Panama City Beach Warnings and Dangers

Because there are only one or two main roads on the beach, expect traffic to be at a near standstill at times. Mostly it is a tedious creeping drive from one end of the beach to the other, especially around the strip. To compound this problem, you will also have to watch out for every drunken college kid and spring breaker who is likely to dart in front of your vehicle.

I've never experienced any crime, but just the same I would leave valuables in the trunk or out of sight from would-be thieves.

One final thought: RIPCURRENTS can be a serious problem from time to time. Most of the time there will be a red flag posted when they occur. Do NOT ignore the warnings. Being "a strong swimmer" is not enough to protect you against the forces of nature. Never take a foolish risk in the water.

Only that I can think of is to put valuables, things that you don't want stolen into your trunk. Example.......radar detector. I took it up to the room so that no one would take it from the car. Seem to be a favorite to steal. This made the second one that got stolen. Anyway, I took it to the room to keep it out of the car, and when it came time to leave, it was gone. So lock up your valuables in the trunk....mainly the items that you use very little.

Club Lavela and Spinnaker's -- The date rape drug has been in use in both of these clubs during the past 3 or 4 years. Do NOT accept a drink from ANYONE! They could have drugged your drink. ONLY drink what you have ordered from the bar yourself. The bars outside during the day are safer than those inside. Inside both clubs it is fairly dark and easy for someone to be drugged and the security personnel not to notice. PLEASE BE CAREFUL if you attend either one of these clubs.

The only things i can think of to warn others about are, the sun and jellyfish. The sun is very intense, i don't burn easily here in Missouri, but it's a whole different story in Florida. My brother got stung by a jellyfish about four years ago and it is not pleasant at all, but if you happen to get stung i have advice. Use a credit card to scrape the affected area, to remove the stingers, and then put viniger on it to relive the pain. When you scrape the area with the credit card you should feel some relief. I hope this little tidbit will help some of you in the future.
