view-seaside by RoyJava We flew from Miami to Pensacola, and went on by car ... yep, quite a drive for Europeans. Whether by car, RV, plane, bus or train, it's easy to get to Seaside and hard to leave, we got told. Recommended using one of the following airports to get into the area, and then obtaining ground transportation to Seaside: Panama City (Bay County) Airport Fort Walton Beach (Okaloosa Regional) Airport Get Driving Directions Leave a Comment

map-pensacola by RoyJava Good to know that the city of Pensacola is the City of Five Flags, and considered Florida's "FIRST PLACE" City! Historically the Pensacola Society was founded at 14th of February, 1933, which opened the Historical Museum of Pensacola in 1960 (Historical Museum at the Arbona Building, 115 East Zaragosa Street, Pensacola). Literally you find all exhibits, books, lectures, tours, workshops, research and other interesting things about the history of Pensacola and northwest Florida, within the Historical Museum, so this is the spot to hit ... view-seaside-florida by RoyJava To get a visual idea of perfection of Pensacola head for the Pensacola Beach Pavilion to enjoy the beach-line of Seaside. Indeed a totally different skyline from Hollywood Movie-world, and yet, Seaside is so perfect that it could be a movie set. Maybe the feeling of an elf comes up because of the delicacy of the view of such a beauty. But it is too real to be a dream ... That is the real thing, the real Seaside, that is it ! And when walking downtown you know all streets at Pensacola lead to downtown Seaside and the Central Square. All within easy walking distances, including Florida's most beautiful beach of Pensacola ... Leave a Comment

sea-view-pensacola by RoyJava Pensacola Seaside will reconnect, just with family. That is a great motion, isn't it? The sense of self, family and time, and the possibility of a community where you're able to relax and enjoy simple things of life. So it's about taking the time to watch a sunset, to stare up at a night sky full of shimmering stars, to speak to your best friends, to take long walks. And the best place to start is the beach where the panorama's will be breath-taking. A fashionable idea? Leave a Comment

In 1959, when we lived in Pensacola I remember going to Pensacola Beach a couple of times. This beach is apparently renowned for its white sand. I was not apparently into beaches at that time (or now except for taking pictures of them), or, more likely, I hadn't seen many other beaches, because I don't remember being particularly impressed. The thing I remember most is getting sunburned, or, more properly, Bob getting sunburned. This is the rest of the story. Bob decided that it would be cheaper for me to cut his hair rather than for him to go to the barber shop, even the inexpensive one on the base. So he got a set of clippers from Sears, and sat down in the kitchen with a towel around his neck and said "Cut my hair". I had never paid any attention to men's haircuts, and I had not even had my own hair cut very much. But after some protest, I did as he said. The first haircut wasn't very good - there were 'holes' in it where more skin showed through. But we went out to the beach the next day and he got sunburned in the 'holes' so that his sunburned skin blended in with the color of his hair and made it less apparent. [He did not do this on purpose.] By the following week, I got better at it. When we went back in 2005 - the sand was still white. Leave a Comment

by changeinlatitude Do spend the $1.00 to walk to the fishing pier that is just up the road from the Hampton Inn. Take in the beautiful view of the beach and in the water. The last time I was there, there were a ton of jelly fish all around the pier. The only un-nerving thing is that there are a lot of barracuda there as well. However, they usually don't bother people. They are there to make the fishermen unhappy by taking their catches before they can real them in.

There is the ocean of course & the pier. There is also a food stand that was pretty reasonable. Address: Pensacola Public Beach
