You must go to the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola. It's a very short drive from Perdido Key, and we loved it!

I'm not an aviation buff, but I still enjoyed this beautiful museum, and the tour we took with our well-informed and personable guide.
This museum gives a great overall picture of the history of naval aviation in America. It's very interesting for history buffs and aviation fans alike.

the flora-bama lounge is located on the florida/alabama state line in perdido key florida. this historic beach bar is a fun, rowdy place that gets a "redneck" cleintelle. the flora-bama was partially destroyed by hurricane ivan in 2004 and has been recently renovated. a very interesting place to have a drink or two in perdido key.

    Dress Code: casual.

Don't miss exploring the Gulf Islands National Seashore. This beautiful and well-maintained natural beach is a national treasure. Definitely a different way to 'do the beach thing'.

Favorite thing: Perdido Key is located near Pensacola, Florida. Perdido Key,(Lost Key in Spanish) is a difficult place to find on the map. A narrow strip of snow white beaches and crystal blue waters, it is located in the Northwest Panhandle of Florida

Fondest memory: There were a lot of things about Perdido Key that made great vacation memories for me and my family, but I think the thing I will remember most was our walks on the undeveloped beach on the Gulf Islands National Seashore. It was wonderful to walk along and see what a Florida beach looked like without condos and vacation homes.

One evening there were very few people around because a storm was moving in from the south. We walked along, feeling like explorers, and imagining what the first Europeans must have thought about and felt when they first walked on these beaches. It was very cool!
