This restaurant came highly recommended to us by Bob, (AKA) tropicdiver. He is an expert on this area, if you are going here, please check out his pages. As it turns out, he is also an expert in good food, his favorite eating spots, became ours too!

This is deffinately a tripple threat restaurant! They have it all! Great food, great service, and atmoshpere. There is smoke (a dry ice sort of mist) rolling around the floors. The tables are set apart, in little 'jungle' type corners for privacy. Animated animals, and animal sounds abound. Kids would really like it, and adults find it pretty neat too!

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are found here.
    Cinnamon French toast...$5.95
    Belgian Waffle...$4.95
    Oatmeal...$2.95
    Crabmeat & Swiss Cheese Omelet...$6.95

In the photo, from top left are:

    Pollo De Peru, (Mike's choice)
Grilled Marinated Chicken Breast, topped with a blend of cheeses, diced tomatiow and green onions served with black beans, rice and tomato salsa....$14.95

    Key Lime Pie....$3.95

Morgan's Fresh Fillet of Grouper, (Bob's Pick)
Locally caught in Gulf, mild fish blackened or broiled.....$17.95

    Buffalo Shrimp, (Terry's Dinner)
Fried shrimp in hot buffalo sauce, with celery and blue cheese...$7.95

Everyone enjoyed all of their meal here! I would go back in a minute!

Great seafood, friendly service and quick too! I believe this is a hot spot for local business people to eat as well. They have two locations,
13361 Metro Parkway, Fort Myers, FL 33912
    and
    Royal Palm Square
1400 Colonial Bldv. Fort Myers, FL 33907

Fried Grouper Sandwich, and Fried Shrimp.
Hush Puppies, and cole slaw were excellent.

  • Allan eating Shrimp at Rodes Restaurant - Florida
    Allan eating Shrimp at
    Rodes Restaurant
    by deecat
The first time we were in the Vonita Springs area about five years ago, we were told to be sure to eat at Rodes (a tradition in the area). The place was almost "a hole in the wall". It had only a few tables to sit down to eat, and the deli part was where most of the business took place. But, it was worth it to eat there because it was so delicious. Besides seafood, we would buy Keylime pies and take them with us.
In 2004, we went looking for Rodes, and it was closed! Accidently, I saw a new restaurant about two blocks away and pointed it out to Allan; suddenly, I realized that it was the NEW AND IMPROVED Rodes! We ate there three times. It is absolutely beautiful now with a huge bar area, gigantic dining room, and a good-sized deli portion. Thank goodness, the quality and amount of food is still the same.

We liked the shrimp and the blue stone crab (which was in season while we were there). I prefer the Coconut Shrimp while Allan has the 1/2 pound of fresh shrimp (which was 40+ shrimp!)
The salads are good, the fish/chips is also quite wonderful. And, as always, we bought the keylime pie to take home.
In addition, we bought the "Forest Berries" pie that had three delicious berries in one pie.
I'm so glad that when they built the new Rodes, they did not change the menu or the quality. It's a great memory of Bonita Springs and Bonita Beach area.

There's a great but small Italian Deli and Pizzeria in Fort Myers Beach called Francesco's. Their motto is: "Cooking With a Conscience".
They do catering and require one week advance notice to ensure a properly prepared order. Meat and Cheese Trays are their specialty.

Besides freshly made food, you can purchase imported bottled, canned, and packaged goods. They have quite a wide variety of choices for such a small place.

We were staying in a codo with full kitchen so we came here to purchase some of their specialties for cooking.

They serve homemade soups and freshly prepared salads each day. You can order subs or sandwiches, freshly made pastas, Calzones, Bruschetta, Stuffed Tomatoes. In addition, they make both Sicilian and thin crust pizzas.
Furthermore, they specialize in Italian Breads, Bagels, and assorted Italian cookies.

It's a friendly, clean, unique deli with personality plus...give them a visit.

The kids loved this restaurant with its jungle decor complete with animal noises and wall to wall video clips of the rainforest. The servers were very friendly especially interested in the children and were a great help in choosing from the huge menu. A fun filled evening was had by all, rounded off with a visit to the restaurant gift shop

We adults had the Keilbase Bacon Burger with garden salad & the kids had Funky Fish with carrot sticks all washed down with Coca Cola (free refills on all soft drinks) The dessert menu was labled "Lost Shrine of Forbidden Pleasures" and they are not kidding - we all enjoyed Chocolate Mousse Pie - they do say the desserts are big enough for two - yes they are right.

This place had to be our most favourite restaurant when we stayed on International Drive. Breakfast is around $4 for all you can eat & dinner is around $10 for the entrees in each case after your initial price everything else is free except drinks but the coffee comes with free fill ups as do the soft drinks. The buffet is crammed with all sorts of food & yummy desserts.

We usually had the sirlion tips but large steaks are on offer too along with great chicken & fish dishes. My sons were quite young so it was a great novelty for them to 'experiment' with the ice cream flavours & many toppings not to mention the many return visits they had during one meal!!

Caffe Luna Rosa: Brunch on the Beach

  • Right next door to Boston's on the Beach is Caffe Luna Rosa. The restaurant, with al fresco dining both inside and out (restaurants in Delray Beach have windows that disappear in good weather). While it serves meals all day, we enjoyed a great brunch here.

Choosing what to eat can be a real trick here. Just walking to your table, you pass examples of wonderful options on other diner's plates!

But I had my favorite, eggs benedict. Excellently prepared and quite reasonable at $8.00, the fresh squeezed orange juice and brewed coffee rounded out my happy brunching experience!

    Beachside dining

My first Delray Beach/Florida experience, after the short trip from Ft. Lauderdale, was dinner at Boston's on the Beach. We dined on the Upperdeck, where we had a fantastic view of the ocean and beach.

Boston's caters to a hip clientel. Lively bars, both upstairs and down, keep customers well sated while they wait for a table. Live music is on the venue most evenings. Special events are advertised on the restaurant's website.

I had the grilled salmon which was just delicious. We also shared a very good crabcake appetizer.

I don't understand why I was never able to order a mojito in this part of Florida.

Busch's is a beautiful, relaxing restaurant situated on the Intercoastal. We celebrated my friend's birthday at a comfortable outside table, overlooking the water.

Service was very good. We enjoyed excellent margaritas and appetizers without being rushed to order our main courses. Our server knew when to hover and when to leave us alone.

Unbelievably (for someone from Colorado), the evening was warm enough to sit outside sweaterless. We watched patrons arrive by water, tying up at Busch's dock.

We enjoyed two very nice appetizers; crab and artichoke spread with crackers and spinach dip with tortilla chips. The margaritas were large and delicious. I had a grilled salmon entree with a light mustard sauce and a choice of potato (or rice) and well prepared mixed vegetables.

This is one of the nicest restaurants I have ever been to. The ambience was wonderful; it felt like I was in Spain! Each room has a unique design. It is just lovely and the food is exceptional. I came for lunch when it was not very crowded, but I'm sure this restaurant is always packed and you might want to make reservations before coming. If you don't get a chance to eat there, at least walk inside this beautiful place. Highly recommended!
