What a hoot. Apparently, this guy feels so strongly about his bible and his interpretations of that book that he feels the need to drive from New Jersey to Florida to spread the word.
You can't read it on the van, but one of the main messages this guy conveys is that one cannot be saved by works, but by "grace alone".
Everyone has their own opinion, but to me he has it backwards. What is grace worth, if one does not put one's beliefs into practice and perform good works.
And good works does not mean driving around in a bible van bothering folks who just want to see St. Augustine without a proslytizing nutcase with a bullhorn!
Girls, to fit in with the locals, it's a good idea to wear a straw hat. This is a tradition started by Saint Jethro. Back in 1768, St Jethro founded the first Greek Orthodox church in St Augustine. Ok, I may have a few of my facts mixed up, but don't these girls look good in those hats?
There seems to be a huge increase in these "ghost tours" throughout the city. The time I lived here there were no such tours that I knew of.
Oh well... If it brings money ...
They say the 3 most haunted places in town are: The Old Drug Store, The Spanish Military Hospital and the Old Jail.

During our return visit to the city, we enjoyed walking around the many small streets of the city and also in the downtown pedestrian area. This is a tourist oriented spot with quite a few quirky things to catch your attention but it was this dog, waiting patiently for its owner to return, that really caught our eye! One 'cool' mutt with his shades on!! I think he knows that he has got it made!
The Flagler Presbytherian Memorial Church was built in 1889 by Henry Flagler in memory of his daughter who died in childbirth. Located at the corner of Sevilla and Valencia streets, it's in the Venetian Renaissance style.
I enjoy a good sunset, but there's something about getting up to witness the sunrise that inspires me. It's a rebirth, a new beginning.
