Cap's On the Water: Very popular!

    by madmax79 Written Sep 5, 2013

Cap’s is a local favorite and has a huge following. It is usually quite busy there. Nice outside seating under the trees with a view of the Intracoastal waterway. If you walk out on the dock, there's a good possibility of seeing dolphin swim by.

It's great food in a gorgeous setting.

Favorite Dish: Blackened catch (usually mahi)

    Caps: The ambiance is unmatched

    by donpaul77 Updated Sep 2, 2008

Dining at Caps is all about the ambiance. The restaurant is situated on the inter-coastal with outdoor seating among a canopy of twisted oak draped with Spanish moss. The view across the water is beautiful, and we watched the sun set on a balmy evening. As it got dark, the candles were lit and it was downright romantic.

The staff was very kind and attentive, though it was difficult for me to figure out exactly who "our" waitress was.

Favorite Dish: While the food was good, I would say that the ambiance is the main reason to go to Caps.

I ordered a very unusual dish, which was horse radish encrusted grouper served with a vanilla cream sauce. It was interesting, and properly prepared, but just not to my taste (i think it was the vanilla cream sauce). Desert was delicious, a chocolate cake de leche with strawberries and whipped cream.

Super Ambience! We found this by accident on our last day in St Augsustine and were we ever glad we did! We felt like we were stumbling onto a well hidden secret and felt privledged to have been able to be a part of it. The weather was perfect and we were seated right next to the water under a beautiful canopy of oak trees..We couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable meal or place.

Favorite Dish: The Shrimp Vilano..Just a very unique and tasty dish of about six shrimp on the appetizer menu..Very yummy..I also had the Blackened catch of the day sandwich which was very good also.

We just stopped for a drink and appetizer. If the entrees are as good as the blackened scallop appetizer we had, you'll be happy with the food.
