Blue Parrot Oceanfront Café: Parrot or Parakeet?

Peel and eat shrimp for $8.99

They gave us a list of restaurants at the lighthouse, and I took a photo of it so that I would be able to identify places. The Blue Parrot writeup said "Fresh seafood, steak & chicken, burgers. Appetizers, sandwiches, soups, salads, oysters. Homemade desserts. Lunch specials, children's menus, Outside tiki bar.

    It was on the beach.

The men's room sign said Parrots and the ladies room sign said Parakeets. This is not technically correct as Parrots and Parakeets are two different types of birds, but it was cute.

Favorite Dish: Bob got a half pound of peel and eat shrimp for $8.99, and I had Seafood Gumbo $4.99 and Bread Pudding $4.99.

Blue Parrot: Don't miss this beachside seafood restaraunt!

    Directions to the Blue Parrot

Imagine eating right on the beach, late in the evening, with waves lapping almost at your feet, with old-fashioned gas torches flickering in the darkness; the food is delicious, the surroundings are exquisite, the service is perfect. Welcome to the Blue Parrot!

If you decide to eat during the day, you will enjoy the large sun deck; the food and service will be great as well.

Favorite Dish: I love their crabcakes. Po' Boys are good too. If you are not a seafood fan, their hamburgers are great -- and huge.

Also, don't forget to order their Raspberry Iced Tea. It is probably the best iced tea I have ever tried -- and I order iced tea all the time.
