a local craft artist's work by arasnosliw This is a wine bar at its best... Small, homely, cheap, friendly. The store has a huge variety of local and foreign wines. The bar is unpretentious. The alcohol flows easily here. The staff and owners are especially friendly and helpful. The owners even home cook the free food they serve during happy hour. How about a hearty meal of beef stew, cheese, crackers, to help that wine flow down your throat? The bar has an astounding variety of German beers as well, because one of the owners is German. On Fridays from 5:30-7:30 there are free wine tastings. There's even displays of local artists' work. I don't know anything about cigars, but they have a fumador with a pretty decent collection as well as off-brand cigarettes.

Oi! The State! by sarahjayn The State Theatre is an indoor concert venure that has mostly punk / ska / metal shows. Admission is usually pretty cheap, and shows are usually all ages. I like the homey atmosphere of the State Theatre as opposed to other bigger, cleaner concert venues, but some people find it a little too much to take. There are two floors to the state theatre: the bottom floor with the bar and pit, and the upper floor with the balcony. If you're the type of person that likes to sit and listen to music (and not have sweaty drunks bump into you most of the night), I suggest you get there early and get a balcony seat. I like it downstairs, though. The security gaurds are really nice, too.
Anything goes, but it does get kind of hot inside . . . especially when everyone starts dancing. Water is very expensive here, too. a good week at Jannus Landing by sarahjayn . . . Jannus Landing is the oldest and largest outdoor venue in Central Florida." So says their website. Jannus Landing is a "restored" (read: gutted) property that is now a patio and a stage. It is a pretty nice place to go for concerts because it's outside, but there's lots of natural shade. Also, it's kind of in the thick of things downtown, so you can do something else before or after the show. This place is generally much calmer than The State Theatre, one of St. Petersburg's other music venues. They Might Be Giants used to come here every April and I went religiously, but they stopped coming mysteriously. Ska Against Racism is usually held here still. Check the website for directions and schedule.
