Sun and sand wear to causal restaurant type outfits; nothing is very dressed up unless you are going to an Opera or a very fine restaurant. Don't forget a sweater year around because in the winter it does get cool and in the summer the air conditioning is at full blast.
SUNSCREEN AND LOTS OF IT. PF25 or higher for very lite complexsion people. Children need lots of it because when you sweat and you will in the summer even if you are just going to get into your car to go the store, the sunscreen wears off. When you towel off at the beach, off comes the sunscreen too.
It is very bright because we are near the equator and the sun reflected off the water is brilliant.
If you can carry or pack it bring it. You can rent skidos, etc but they are not cheap. Good floats are hard to pack but worth it to enjoy the Gulf waters.
Check the water quality reports that are posted on the beach before you enter the water as rain run-off can ruin the beach. Next swim in any small lake in this area as there are alligators everywhere. They will kill small dogs and have been known to attack humans. Leave a Comment

mosquito repelant
roaches wander the shores of fort desoto, along with strange looking snakes, and a ton of racoons. Besides the mosquitos its alright though, jk. avoid camping here in July or August Leave a Comment
