the first time i visited salt springs was about 50 years ago and much has changed in that time. in those days the springs were surrounded by a small village of wooden buildings. there was a bait shop that offered boat rentals and the run had several old boat houses. when the national park service took over the spring all of these structures were removed. pictured is a house next to the park near the south parking lot. this structure gives the visitor an idea of what salt springs looked like in the old days. note: this is a private residence, do not tresspass.
