Sal's Italian Ice has the best Italian Ice and Ice Cream around. The Italian Ice is homemade right in the store. The staff is always friendly and very quick. Not to mention the strawberry gelatis are the best and the prices can't be beat. It's a very cute small building so drive slowly or you just might miss it.

captain's cove is a florida style restaurant located at the boat tree marina at the port of sanford. a great place to have lunch. good burgers and fish sandwiches. they have a full bar and have live entertainment on weekends. good food moderately priced. a fun restaurant and bar to visit when in the sanford area.

enzo's italian restaurant is not in sanford but neighboring longwood. it is located about 8 miles south of sanford on US17-92. if you like fine dinning enzo's is worth the short trip. enzo's is one of the best italian restaurants in the orlando area. reservations recommended.

I can't say much about the restaurants of central Florida. When you find a good one...stick with it. Most of them are chains or "home style" which means lots of fried and fattening foods...but very little good fresh vegetables and truly good cuisine. I found a winner in Sanford on one of the side streets by the town clock. They were installing a fountain in the middle of this little plaza on the day I was there. I'm sure the whole area will be beautiful when it is completed. I had a lovely lunch..spoke with an elderly lady who seemed to need some company...and the cop on the beat and I reminisced old Sanford together. It was an excellent lunch spot.
