Hidden in Sarasota are these gardens, we accidently noticed the sign and decided to follow them.
We didn't expect to much, but we were pleasantly surprised. With beautiful gardens, birds and more. Sure a nice place to spend a few hours.
These gardens are made in what once was listed as an impenetrable swamp with bananas in it. In 1930 the first plans to develope this swamp into a botanical garden where made by David Breed Lindsay.
You can find here The "Birds of Prey" exhibition which is behind the Reptiles of The World exhibit. Here you can see avian predators, Red Tail Hawk and a Great Horned Owl which have been rescued by the Jungle Garden.
Rather small collection of animals but extensive grounds. Good stop if yoru a zoo aficiando but otherwise not.
Sarasota Jungle Gardens is a don't miss when your in Sarasota. I spent two weeks sightseeing in Sarasota and it was one of my favorite things. The highlight was having an exotic bird sit on my arm.
Thats a nice place to spend some time with family. Wonderful nature, animals and play places for kids
