Myakka is close to Sarasota, but definitely gives you a glimpse of wild Florida. You'll see gators, eagles, wild boar, you name it! Definitely worth the US$4 entry fee.
Excellent boat tours, highly recommended. They'll get you close to the gators, but not too close, since you'll be within arms reach of the water if you choose. BRING YOUR BINOCULARS if you like birds. Definitely worth it.
Bicycle rental is also available for the trails, which is also a great time.
