  • Don't feed the birds!

If you're on the beach and see the hundreds of gulls or other small bird life, you may be tempted to feed them some bread or other small food items. Don't.

The birds have gotten to know that humans like to feed them, and if you get too close with food, they will pick it out of your hands, even if you didn't intend for them to have it. (I have seen people lose hot dogs this way.)

Leave them alone and they will leave you alone. It's as simple as that, and you will enjoy your peaceful beach time. Otherwise, you're in for a quickly overwhelming experience as you throw your remaining loaf of bread up in the air as a last ditch attempt to fend off the screaming hordes of birds.
