There are few places to find to park around the Government complex since most spots are for employees. However, the parking garage is form visitors, and the best choice. YOu can park there for $5 a day, or if you go to the Florida Museum of History, you get a coin pass to get out free

The only way to get around Tallahassee is by car. You will need to rent a car or drive your own.
If you use Hertz, beware of their out-of-date maps. I used one to get back to the Tallahassee airport, and succeeded only in getting lost. If I hadn't reached a friend to guide me by phone in the right direction, I probably would have ended up in Tampa.

The best thing to travel to Tallahassee is by airplane or by car. It´s closed to Georgia and if you come from Orlando you need 4 h by car.
You need a CAR (!) or a bike because I didn´t see busses or streetcars...and just walking can be hard...

Sure, you can drive, but c'mon, Tally's really in the middle of nowhere -- it's a good 3-4 hours from the tourist quadrant of Florida and dangerously close to Georgia and Alabama. Best to fly in -- AirTran just opened up shop here at the airport and is offering low-fare flights of barely $100 round-trip from anywhere in the US.
If you don't have a car, you're screwed. The TalTran bus system sucks. Everything in Tally's at least 10 minutes from everything else. And for some odd reason, gas is often more expensive in Tally than in any other place in Florida. Damn.

to get to Tallahassee is by Interstate, I 10. You can get toff at any number of places. At Hwy 27 North(North Monroe St) or Hwy 90 East and Hwy 90 West, Thomasville Road. The best ones would be Hwy 27 North and Hwy 90 East.
Just drive around and learn the town, you may just have some fun.

This is a map of the complete bus route around the Florida State University campus. You pretty much encircle the entire place, which is very beautiful and has some great views of the city.
