Favorite thing: University of Tampa is located on the Hillsborough River just across from downtown Tampa's Central Business District. UT has nearly 6,000 students who are able to graduate with degrees in about 100 different areas. The most impressive and historic building on campus is Plant Hall, built in 1888 and the headquarters for Theodore Roosevelt and others prior to the Spanish-American War.

Famous graduates of the University of Tampa include Major League Baseball manager Lou Pinellla, wrestlers Chyna and Paul Orndorff, MLB first baseman Tino Martinez, and former Florida Governor Bob Martinez. Infamous politician Rod Blagojevich also attended the school for a few years.

Favorite thing: I loved going to school in Tampa, and running here is great. If you can stand the very hot and humid summers you may enjoy running in the Florida sunshine too. Whatever your activity, your sure to enjoy the sunshine

Favorite thing: Go see the University of Tampa. The building was originally the Tampa Bay Hotel. Plant hall was built at the turn of the century in 1900. In 1933 it was turned into the University. There is a museum there as well. The silver Minarets are the school trademark and are visible from downtown. Check out the beautiful homes on Bayshore boulevard and Davis Island.

Fondest memory: Graduating from college and Being commissioned a Lieutenant in the Army. Racing in cross country races for the university was one of my fondest memories as well

Favorite thing: Tampa’s most famous historic landmark, the Tampa Bay Hotel (www.plantmuseum.com ) was built in 1890s to lodge rich railroad arrivals. With its onion domes and minarets, it looks like a set from the Arabian Nights. Hotel was bought by the city in 1905 and become part of the University of Tampa in 1933. See more details in my travelogue.
