Favorite thing: In 1886, Vicente Martinez Ybor (pronounced EE-bore) established a cigar factory in this area. Here, Cuban immigrants from Key West settled to make a name for Tampa in the cigar industry. In its heyday, local cigar industry employed 12,000 tabaqueros (cigar-makers) in 200 factories and produced 700 million cigars a year.
Fondest memory: There are soo many--where oh where to begin?? It all started one nite with a few margaritas and pinky swears--those damn pinky swears! I will always remember GWIT: hanging with rockstars and baseball players...ybor city...bouncers bribing us to visit their clubs...red bull and vodkas...my friend's piercing experience...walk of shame...showstoppers...and who could ever forget the infamous kiss!
