Making phone calls, Tampa
When we went to the US for the first time and tried to call Niki's Uncle the payphone swallowed our coins in no time... And that wasn't even a call outside the country...
Unique Suggestions: If you come unprepared to the US buy a prepaid card at you can find these in almost any shop in the US or get them from a machine. But beware of the hidden charges these card might have read the fine lines.
Fun Alternatives: We us a calling (credit) card it can be used from payphones, private phones and hotel phones (beware most hotels charge you for using their phone even when it's a free number look for this in the directory in the hotel). With this card you call a free number and then your card number after this you can call home at a much nicer rate you would get elsewhere. We have used a dutch card but this one is discontinued. We now use a card from Primus Telegroup.
The card itself is free no annual fees you'll only pay when you use it.
If you know a cheaper way to call from the US to the Netherlands please let us know so we can switch.
