Tampa is known for it's drivers . . . and their "creative" driving. Pedestrians are just as likely to be roadkill her as raccoons. If you are visiting Tampa, make sure that you're extra careful crossing the streets.

Transportation problem. Unfortunately there is almost no public transportation in Tampa. For those who drive a car: be careful, there are lots of old people in Florida, especially Tampa Bay, and they can't concentrate any longer... It is very dangerous to cycle or walk on Tampa streets. I recommend using sidewalks instead.

Trolleys run downtown through Hyde Park, Channelside, and up to Ybor. Check them out if you're staying downtown. Might save a lot on taxis.

Taxis magically seem to disappear around closing time...get to be friends with your cabbie on the way to the clubs and he may come back for you.
