 doug48 Says:  the dora canal was once called the elfin river. the elfin river was dredged in the 1830's. and became known as the dora canal. this one mile river connects lake dora to lake eustis. on this beautiful waterway you can see florida wildlife and 2,000 year old cypress trees.... 

 doug48 Says:  the dead river is actually an extention of lake eustis and not a river at all. it gets it's name from the fact there is no current. a beautiful body of water to take a cruise or fish. the dora chain of lakes is one of florida's best bass fishing spots.
