One big one is the hotels/resorts. ALL of the hotels have transportation back and forth to the park. Get online and get a hotel from hotels.com or whatever. My resort was $85 a night online. To walk in and get a room is almost unheard of, but it would have cost me $175 a night for 4 people. Don't buy the souvenirs INSIDE Disney, they sell the same EXACT crap in about 1000 different stores. Don't buy tickets at the gate, they sell em everywhere, its a lot cheaper.
The alternative is buying merchandise in the "outer" stores. One shirt inside Disney was $30 the SAME exact shirt outside Disney was $15.

This isn`t really a "tourist trap", but I didn`t realise how expensive visiting all the theme parks are, plus the food & souvenirs !!!! We paid about $52 each for a day`s ticket just to one park. But at least all the rides & attractions are free.
Found out it`s much cheaper to pre-purchase a multi-day pass when you book your holiday here in the UK. At least I know for next time !!! Leave a Comment

Shops that charge excessive prices for imported goods of marginal quality. Watch out for speed traps around the state. Just stay with the flow of traffic.

by miromi 95% of the state is an utter tourist trap.mean, but it's the cold cruel truth. avoid: the airboat tours; anything on International Drive in Orlando; the theme parks; most all restaraunts--excruciatingly mediocre food throughout most of the state; the entire city of Tampa (with the exception of the Dali museum); Naples, Florida's evil beach parking cops; the Florida Keys; most of the towns and cities on the coast that serve as retirement communities for rich northerners; Jacksonville, thought that might be unavoidable since you're forced to drive through it if you're taking I-95 And then, what's the deal with the keys? 'Hey, there's this fragile ecosystem with lots of endangered species endemic to the area, but we're going to build a gigantic highway down the damn thing!' When I asked a Key Largo park ranger why the road was built on the keys, she got really offended and said, 'To allow for good fishing opportunities.' Leave a Comment

I didn't notice any particular tourist trap, but sightseeing in Florida doesn't come cheap so be prepared. Having said that its money well spent and good value entertainment. Leave a Comment

The whole state is kind of a 'Tourist Trap'. Everything is Florida seems to be geared toward tourist and retirees (synonym?). Don't get me wrong, Florida is a lot of fun, but everything seems to be a 'Kodak moment'. Leave a Comment

All prepared for power airboating by Faiza-Ifrah Visitors to Orlando attractions talk about ticket discounts. We have researched enough and personally, I don’t think that there is any such thing as a significant discount. Perhaps the best deal is to go off-season and enjoy the best of parks with almost no wait times and significant off-peak discounts on hotels and car rentals.
For peak season, again, I imagine the best thing would be to make best use of time rather than waste it in search of marginal discounts. Be the 1st to enter the park and last to exit. Don't get out for mid-day siesta and rent out prams for toddlers.
Instead of looking for discounted tickets, take time off for 'B' grade attractions, public parks, museums, etc. with almost none to minimal fees. Leave a Comment

Have Fun, Expect the Splash by KimberlyAnn There are plenty of shops and activities that are just aimed at tourists. Some of these can be good places to purchase souvenirs, postcards, or have a good time, however some are just a waste of time and money. Most are pretty easy to spot, however. Use common sense. If it looks like a trap, and the locals or respected publications have not recommended it, it is probably a trap. If the license plates in the parking lot are all out of state cars, look carefully before spending your money Unless you want to get really wet, don’t sit too close to the front at the Orcas (killer whales) show in SeaWorld. The whales make a number ofhuge splashes! If it is crowded and you chose a seat near the front, then change your mind after the first splash, you may find yourself trapped in your seating location. Some people love to be splashed by the whales, and even come prepared with raincoats or ponchos. So, if you don’t have raingear and choose to sit in font, be prepared to walk around wet after you leave the show. Leave a Comment
