TAKE A RIVER BOAT CRUISE by scottishvisitor If you want to learn about the lakes & wildlife at Disney take an informative & educational boat trip. Cruise along through the marsh areas & spot pink flamigos, pelicans and much more. A great way to spend some time and it's a lot cooler travelling on the lakes. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

by richiecdisc Overseas visitors will generally fly into Orlando, Miami, or increasingly Ft. Lauderdale. The drive to Florida from the northeast is still a fun trip the first few times. You really need a car in Florida as you do in most states. The US is not noted for mass transit. The plus side is rentals and fuel are very inexpensive. Locally, try and enjoy boat travel, be it motorized or better still, self propelled, like a canoe or kayak. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

All the major and minor car rental companies are in Orlando, so if you have a favorite one, I'm sure you will be able to rent from them. To save money, always ask for the cheapest car, which will always be a subcompact. For this reason and due to the current cost of gas, these will not be available. So, you will get a bigger car for the same price!! We have done this every time we have rented and got a bigger car for the same price. If a subcompact is available, just tell the salesperson you have changed your mind. Theme: Car/Motor Home

Auto or motorcycle. Watch out for confused tourist drivers, old ladies driving 20 mph under the speed limit, any old men with hats, and young kids with their Mustangs and highpowered pickups. Taxis can be expensive. Price shop for car rentals (lots of special deals). Inadequate or lack of public transportation. Good roads everywhere with decent signage. Some major roads will have signs warning which major intersection is just ahead. Try not to walk along the roads--Florida is dangerous for pedestrians (lack of sidewalks). Pinellas County (Clearwater/St. Petersburg) is the most dangerous county in the US for pedestrians because many major streets and roads have no sidewalks. Most drivers do NOT use their directional signals when they change lanes or when making turns. So they'll cut you off if there's any room between you and the vehicle in front--be warned!! Bikers don't wear helmets or any other protective gear. It's their choice but as a biker myself, I think it's a stupid way to ride. Theme: Train

Best way to get to the Keys is to fly into Miami or Fort Lauderdale and rent a car, then drive the causeway to the Keys. Each Key is unique, with its own appeal, so I prefer to drive and see it all rather than fly in to Key West or Marathon airport and miss the total experience! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

There is a good city bus transportation thru and around the city. These buses also leave from the airport. The cost is; Standard One-Way Fare - $1.50 Single-Day Pass - $3.50 7-Day Pass - $12.00 30-Day Pass - $38.00 And that's not bad!!

Some brave souls put up with the greyhound, but if you don't have a car, you're screwed. The bus stations are always located in the seediest or more inconvenient locations possible (the Orlando bus station is 5 miles from its downtown and about 2 miles from the nearest local bus). While riding the bus may let you see all the color and vibrancy of local life, buses in America are such that most people avoid riding them and they only attract the creepiest citizens (exhibitionism/flashing is very popular among Greyhound bus riding Americans). renting a car is really expensive if you're under 25, because you get hit with an extra liability fee. Being one of the most popular tourists designation in the USA, if not the world, driving in Orlando can be a real adventure all by itself. The roads are often very crowded and obviously, lots of drivers are not locals and therefore don’t know the city. Traffic jams are so common as to be expected. Be prepared for sudden stops, starts and lane changes! Theme: Car/Motor Home

Old Town Trolley Tours by tpangelinan $20.00/Adults $10.00/Children Stops all over town. Costs same as train, but you can get on and off the Trolley all day, not the Train. Trolley was more comfortable. Leave a Comment
