Lazy Greek Cafe: Small but good

    Lazy Greek Café

We saw all the great reviews and decided we had to try it . It is a neat little place tucked behind a rather industrial looking building…without directions we never would have found it.
The food and menu was as expected simple but good and authentic Greek. We had the Gyro platter , the spanakopita and lazy greek salad with tea and coffee. We also shared baklava for dessert. Our bill was $27.00. (same menu for dinner) . The owners/waiter/cooks are friendly and welcoming. This is not by any stretch a fancy spot , its very casual but like small visit to Greece.
My only complaint is the bathroom was dirty …that aside I would go again.

    sharkey's

sharkey's is located on the venice pier at caspersen beach. this is a combination restaurant/nightlife tip. sharkey's serves local seafood and casual american fare. sharkey's has a very nice tiki bar that is a great place to have a drink and watch the sunset at caspersen beach. a fun place to eat and drink when in venice.

Myakka River Oyster Bar: Manatee crossing

by bradbeaman Updated May 2, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Myakka River has been designated a Federal Wild & Scenic River. This place has a great View on the Myakka River.

Get there before 5:00 Pm for the early bird special menu. You may have to ask for it.

It's not a fancy place (Styrofoam cups and fish in a basket) but the food and view are worth it all. In an effort to preserve the River and the water resources the Sarasota County has requested they be a paper service restaurant.

I hope you sight a Manatee.

    Favorite Dish: The White Fish

Sharky's on the Pier: Fun Food, Fun Atmosphere, On the Gulf of Mexico

I always love sitting outside, because why wouldn't you? It's right on the Gulf of Mexico and you can watch the boats go by, children build sand castles, and look for Sharks! : ) It's just a fun place to kick back and have some finger food and drinks.

Bianca's Mexican Restaurant: Fantastic Authentic Mexican Cuisine

by GypsyGal Written Oct 3, 2005

This place is a diamond in the rough. We would have never known about if we weren't frantically searching for good Mexican and the locals sent us here. It is a very comfortable atmosphere. Very Mexican ambience inside but not over the top, like some chain restaurants. I think this is family run. If you are lucky enough to see the Mariacci band, it is a great time. The food is so good and everything is super fresh. Best Margarita's I've ever had!!!!!!!!! Honest!

Favorite Dish: The Cactus appetizer is something you should try. You can't often get cactus and it's quite tasty.

Brauhaus Venice: Just like Mama never made.

by Georgiantraveler Updated Aug 2, 2005
Yet another joy on our vacation!

The surroundings may not be so impressive, but the food is excellent. Having lived in Germany for four years, I cannot say I experienced a restaurant I enjoyed more than this one.

Excellent personal service, dishes made to order, and authentic desserts hand made by the owner. My party of three and another group of three beside us thoroughly enjoyed the five dessert selections we made, and we shared between ourselves to experience each other's selections.

Favorite Dish: Jaegerschnitzel with pan fried potatoes, because the mushroom gravy was excellent, and the potatoes were made with bacon bits.

The Black Forest Cake was "to die for", and the Nussecke was exactly like my old Bavarian corner bakery used to make for me.

Keep in mind, however, that unlike American restaurants, the one charges for each beverage refill, even the fountain drinks (Surprise!).

  • Lunas Restaurant: Best Italian Food In Venice

by mojeecat Updated May 22, 2003

Nice, romantic, but at the same time, great for families. There is not a dish there that is not the best I have ever had. Outside dining as well as inside. Huge portions. Bring your appetite. Two locations. One on Venice Island. It is the more romantic restaurant type. The other is more of a pizzaria. It is on the mainland and is a bit smaller. Both are great.

Favorite Dish: It's very hard to decide on just one dish there. They have great New York style pizza. Thin crust, huge slices, sesame seeds aroung the outer rim for a great added flavor. The Lasagna is excellent, as well.

  • Marker 4: Don't Miss This Place!

by mojeecat Updated May 22, 2003

Great restaurant. Set on the bay with access either by boat or car. Great seafood. Friendly enviroment. Live music a couple times a week. Be prepared to wait in line at dinner time. Most restaurants in this area have a wait though!

Favorite Dish: Don't miss the snapper finger basket. It comes with fries and coleslaw and more fried snapper strpis than you will be able to eat. All for a very good price. Worth the wait in lne!

Sharkey's on the Pier (or was it on the Beach?)

They had a frozen drinks machine which served alcoholic drinks. They're so big they warn you on the menu not to drink more than one and try to drive. We couldn't decide which ones to order so they asked if we wanted some free samples!! Hello! Thank you very much!!

Right on the water. Sit outside on the patio and enjoy the sunshine.

Favorite Dish: Mussels, the biggest I've ever seen, served with garlic toast points.

Lovely restaurant alongside a canal. Friendly service and wonderful food. Upstairs is the fine dining, downstairs a lively tavern.
