Wakulla Springs Restaurants

The restaurant is much like the accompanying lodge. It's a simple and gracious place to spend some time. The cuisine is basic Florida and Southern cooking. This is not a place that you'll find pate, sushi or nouveau cuisine. What you will find are fresh ingredients, well prepared in the ways of old Florida and the deep south.

Favorite Dish: The restaurant has two basic specialties...

Southern Fried Chicken, a classic deep south recipe. Nicely spiced, crispy and hot, this is the real thing. You don't get this kind of chicken up in New York.

Gulf seafood of all kinds. You can get grouper, shrimp, oysters, whatever, cooked a variety of ways. But for my money, plain old Florida fried gulf shrimp or grouper is the way to go. Fresh? This stuff was swimming in the Gulf of Mexico less than 12 hours earlier.
