Respectable Street Cafe: A Classic New Wave/Punk/Alternative Venue
  • Tip Rating:
  • West Palm Beach's club scene is ever changing. Clubs are closing and reopening with different names and feels and music all the time. But not Respectables, this place has been around since the 80s. It's a downtown West Palm staple.

It attracts the alternative, punk, new wave, retro, rockabilly, goth crowd.

The atmosphere is dark- the dance floor is black and white check. There are booths to chill in, a back patio area with a bar and DJ on some nights and a small stage inside where local bands perform. Drinks are less pretentious and less expensive than what you'd find elsewhere on Clematis Street. They have drink specials most nights.

Wednesdays and Thursdays, Respectable Street stays open until 3 a.m., Fridays and Saturdays until 4 a.m. They open at 9 p.m. But don't really get jam-packed busy until like 11:30 or midnight.

Thursday nights are mostly industrial and new wave. Fridays and Saturdays are retro alternative (yea! 80s music!), and the DJs are happy to take requests.

Cover charges seem to vary, but there never very much. Some nights are free for females...

Dresscode- attire runs the gamut.... you will see Robert Smith lookalikes, mohawks, rave types, you name it, wear whatever you want- break out your shimmery tops, your pumas, your jeans, whatever... it all works. But if you're wearing white, you will stand out a bit. ;-)

Cityplace or Clematis: Party like a Rockstar
  • Tip Rating:
  • Clematis is West Palm Beach's pub and nightclub strip. Lots of late night activities.
on the other hand........... If you prefer just a few drinks, and dinner combined with people watching you may choose Cityplace. City place is just walking distance from Clematis. Cityplace has great food and drinks, and is great for all ages. They even have an Improve comedy club.

No Jeans or sneakes unless you plan on going to the movies in CityPlace.

E.R. Bradley's: Eat drink & be merry-you can even dance on the bar
  • Tip Rating:
  • E.R. Bradleys, located along the beautiful Intracoastal waterway is all about good times with friends. They serve food from morning 'til late at night, and at night, the crowds hoard here for loud music and tons of partying. So much partying that patrons often end up dancing on top of the bar.... Music is top 40s, stuff from the 90s & 80s mostly.

Bradley's is pretty big and consists of an indoor bar and table area, a patio table area and a patio bar. The food is pretty good and the menu has a wide variety of options.

The crowd varies... from tons of local college kids to 30-somethings and even older revelers. This place is a Palm Beach institution so it has quite a following.

Very casual. Jeans work, sneakers work, but so do dresses and nicer attire- whatever you want...

If you're in the area on a Sunday night, make it a priority to go to Waterway Cafe. Get there around 5-ish, order your first Red Stripe at the main bar or proceed to the back of the restaurant towards the water and get a drink from the floating bar that literally sits right there in the water of the Intracoastal. If the live reggae hasn't started yet, don't worry, it will.... Tons of locals come here EVERY single Sunday night and mingle to the music, watch the sunset, dance, eat....

Waterway has good food- so feel free to ask the hostess for a table and partake of their ample menu of fresh seafood, steaks, pizza, salads, etc.

Oh, I almost forgot... you can come to Waterway by your own boat too, many patrons do... and they just dock it right there by the floating bar.

Dress is casual, expect to see guys in polo shirts and khakis, girls in little sundresses, shorts and tees, that sort of thing...

The Science Museum: The Science Museum
  • Tip Rating:
  • It's totally empty on Friday nights and they are opened until 10:00 p.m. You can catch a laser light show or if you are lucky the astronomy club is hanging out up on the telescope platform and you can check out what they are looking at. If it's cloudy, they are not opened so you'll just have to deal with your emotions and go see the COOL FISH!!

  • Tip Rating:
  • Respectable Street Cafe is the place to go for alternative stuff. It can get loud in there so check ahead to see if it's a band playing or if they are having one of their bizzare theme nights. It's located on the west end of Clematis.

  • Tip Rating:
  • Actually we don't go to clubs that much anymore. However, every Thursday night in downtown West Palm Beach they have live bands--which are free to attend. Also, nice cafe-style restaurants, and vending stands.
You see anything and everything there.

    No dress code--go casual.

    The hottest area for nightlife...
  • Tip Rating:
  • The hottest area for nightlife is Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach restaurants, clubs and shops stay open late in the eveving.Special events are held almost every weekend, as well as 'Clematis by Night'
outdoor entertainment program. It's a party in the street.
Many Palm Beach County restaurants have separate
bars for dancing, and hotels often provide lounges with dance floor.
There's a whole strip of night-clubs and coffeehouse on Clematis St.in West Palm Beach.

From City Place, you can hop on a free trolley that will take you to the sights and sounds of downtown West Palm Beach where an abundance of restaurants, and nightlife awaits you.
