Sooo... if you happen to be in Winter Haven, FL and in need of a night out on the town, be a tad weary if someone suggests you check out Bananaz.
UNLESS you're doing a study on strange characters grinding in the night in a badly lit, claustrophobic setting that feels like an mega double-wide trailer. Oh, oh, oh! and if you like to reek like hell of cigarette smoke!
This is Bananaz. Top 40 bump and grind sounds, loads of sweaty drunk patrons and a $5 cover charge for the guys only. The recipe for nightlife success.
Dress Code: Cheesy attire required. Think "I like big butts" music video of the 90s. Or things purchased from mall stores like Rave or Bodyshop.

Ah, Tanners... in it's early stages it was oh so cool, I couldn't believe it. A small little bar with Chicago brick walls, a good wine list and a dj spinning stuff you would never hear in this neck of the woods in FLorida. But, Tanners has grown into something different. Not entirely bad, no, not at all, just different. And if you're in Winter Haven and looking for some nightlife this is probably your best bet.
It's a huge venue (by Winter Haven standards)with a long bar with high-top bistro tables, a stage and dance floor, a pool table or two, that sort of thing. Head towards the back and out the back door and you'll find another bar in a courtyard type setting. A big dance area and a DJ booth/stage.
Tanners does serve food, I assume it's wings and burgers, that sort of thing.
Clientele: Strange locals, college-age kids that go to PCC, Webber and Warner, some "gansta" types...
Music: Inside live bands play, last time we were there a pretty good reggae band was on stage. Outside someone's usually spinning dance and rap type stuff.
Dress Code: Whatever you wish...
