Ole Times Buffet: All You Can Eat Southern Food

Ole Times Buffet

Ole Times Buffet has a wide variety of good Southern food. And it is all you can eat. The Fried Chicken was good. Lots of good veggies. Lots of good deserts. Appeared to be very popular as it was crowded. Great place to go when you are REALLY hungry.

Hibachi Express

This place is located in a strip mall and has Japaanese Fast Food. It has Chicken Teriyaki, various rice bowls and other dishes. Decor in minimal and service was acceptable but not great.

Favorite Dish: The Terayaki Rice Bowl was average.

Blackbeard's

I do not have nearly as extensive experience dining in Albany as my fellow VTer Spartan (see his Albany Page); but I agree that Blackbeard's is an excellent restaurant. The portions were huge and the price made it a very good deal. Eight of us had dinner there and we were all very pleased. Our waitress was efficient and attentive. If I need to eat out in Albany again (my sister lives there and she is an excellent cook) I will probably choose Blackbeard's. Came here again on my next visit. still outstanding!!

Favorite Dish: I had the Captain's Platter which was a huge selection of various types of seafood all very well prepared.

Hooters
1 more image

I was out running some errands and decided to stop for lunch. There was a Hooters across the street. For anyone who is not acquainted with Hooters it is known for good food and attractive young waitresses in Tank Tops that say Hooters and bright orange short shorts. This was a typical Hooters with wood interior, beer signs, and the cute waitresses. I had a bowl of their Manhattan Clam Chowder which was typically great. I also love their Chili and their Chicken Wings. My waitress was extremely pretty.

Favorite Dish: The Manhattan Clam Chowder is well spiced and tastes great!

Yes. this may be a chain restaurant but the service and food is excellent, regardless of the location.

Favorite Dish: You can't go wrong if you select the Rockhampton Rib-Eye (a 14-ounce Rib-Eye steak) or the Ayers Rock Strip (a 14-ounce New York Strip) which both come with bread/butter, salad, and your choice of rice, baked potato or veggies.

A J's Seafood & Oyster Bar: Seafood with a southern twist

This seems to be a popular hangout where locals and visitors congregate. Good food, happy customers and a lively atmosphere make this a place to visit.

Favorite Dish: Take your pick of one of the following entrees...Seasoned Boiled Shrimp (with dipping butter), baked potato, cole slaw and hush puppies, or Fried Alligator (with hush puppies, cole slaw and a baked potato...you can also choose onion rings, french fries or cheese grits). Wash it down with an ice cold Bass Ale. Oh and by the way, gator meat actually taste like a combination of pork and chicken.
