If you have ever dreamed of coming to Augusta to see "The Masters" be sure you make a lot of plans in advance. Be sure you have a ticket. Once inside you will see flowers and landscaping like you have never seen before. There is beauty everywhere.
Of course, the only time I have been inside the hallowed gate is during "The Masters".
During that week you can meet the professional golfers up close and personal on Monday through Wednesday at the practice rounds. They will sign cards and hats for you, laugh with you and pose with you for pictures. It's really a super time to visit Augusta.
Equipment: The best thing to bring is a TICKET. Or a friend that has two tickets. There is no way you can see the inside the Augusta National without a pre-arranged ticket.
Golf fans can interact with the golfers during the Practice Rounds. This is a time when you can get signatures on caps, programs, badges, and pose with your favorite golfer for a picture.
In 1983 the practice rounds tickets were easily available. You could just walk up to the gate and buy one. The ticket in 1983 cost $10 for the day. You can purchase lunch there and other National memorabilia. It's a great time to enjoy the beauty of the golf course.
Equipment: Practice Rounds tickets are pre-sold now.
You can no longer walk to the gate and purchase a ticket for the day. If you haven't got a ticket you won't see the golf course, the practice rounds or the tournament.
You can take your camera to the practice rounds but not to the tournament.
The practice rounds at the Augusta National are probably the nicest part of the golf tournament!
Equipment: If you don't have a ticket for the practice rounds or a badge for the series you will not get into the Augusta National.
Usually the hotels and other lodging will be full and the price is much higher for the week.
