Out in back of the restaurant there is a hillside pasture with goats and horses in it. Children are allowed to feed the animals, (after they have eaten their own vegetables, of course!)
The restaurant also has a garden to the side. There are many blooming plants and statues and a pond with running water. Hummingbird feeders are hung all over, and they get plenty of visitors.
We always manage to show up right at sunset, when the mountain air is just beginning to get chilled, and the critters are settling down for the night. It is a magical time!
Favorite Dish: The menu varies from day to day, but on the weekend they always have fried chicken and fried quail. The waitress brings a basket of rolls and cornbread with butter and jelly to the table, along with the drinks (served in mason jars). A few minutes later, the food comes...bowl after bowl of fresh cooked vegetables and the fried chicken and quail.
