    clayton has a very nice downtown historic area. on main street (US 441) there are a number of shops and restaurants. pictured is the rock house on main street. the rock house began as a WPA project and was clayton's fire house. today it serves as a small public park.

  • rabun bald

    located 15 miles north of clayton is rabun bald. the summit of rabun bald is 4,695 feet tall and is the second highest mountain in the state of georgia. from clayton drive north on US 441 to dillard then from dillard drive east on GA 106 to rabun bald. the drive on GA 106 offers spectacular views of georgia, north carolina, and south carolina.

  • lake burton

    beautiful lake burton is located about 10 miles west of clayton on GA 197. this beautiful 2,700 acre lake was created by a dam built in 1913. you can rent homes and cottages on the lake. for more information see the attached web site.

    rumor haz it is a restaurant and bar in downtown clayton. this key west style bar and restaurant has a nice outdoor deck which is a great place to have a drink when the weather is nice. in terms of nighlife there is not too much to do in clayton except have a drink at rumor haz it.

    Dress Code: casual.

    Favorite thing: Clayton has a number of antique and gift shops, as well as some breathtaking views of the mountains.

    Fondest memory: Paul and I have made a few trips here over the last few years. It's a town with special memories for us.
